Admissions Coordinator: Be the Gateway to Self‐Sufficient Lives

The admissions coordinator for the ACHIEVEability Family Self‐Sufficiency Program holds the key to giving families in need the opportunity to avail of our comprehensive services and tools to help them transform their lives.

This may be the position for you if:

–  you are a confident and outstanding communicator and marketer who can connect with large and small audiences to inform families about our program
–  you can listen and communicate with warmth and empathy at an interpersonal level
–  you are able to evaluate analytically applicant families’ strengths, assets, challenges, motivation and preparedness for our program
–  you are organized, detail‐oriented and assiduous with follow up.

ACHIEVEability is an award‐winning nonprofit organization that provides comprehensive and intensive support and challenge for families so that they can break the generational cycle of poverty, maximize their potential and achieve self‐sufficiency. Education is the locus of our approach. Families at ACHIEVEability pursue college or vocational/technical career training while being employed, developing life skills, repairing credit if necessary, building assets and broadening their horizons through travel, cultural experiences and sports events – and while living in ACHIEVEability‐managed homes.

Responsibilities:
–  Coordinates information sessions for families interested in applying for admission to the ACHIEVEability Family Self‐Sufficiency Program
–  Keeps track of all inquiries and applications for admission, follows up with all candidates and processes all applications
–  Maintains waiting lists for all housing units and ensures that occupancy is at a maximum
–  Establishes and maintains relationships with organizations, government agencies and other entities that are sources of applicant families
–  Provides information on alternative resources to applicants who are not admitted to the ACHIEVEability Family Self‐Sufficiency Program.

Minimum Qualifications:
–  Bachelor’s degree preferred, especially in social work, human services, education or business administration. Experience with intake and application processing a plus.
–  Critical thinking and problem‐solving skills
–  Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
–  Outstanding organizational, time management and prioritization skills
–  Ability and willingness to work in the evenings or on weekends as necessary
–  Flexibility
–  Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Access and Excel
–  Strong follow‐up skills
–  Ability to successfully pass background checks (criminal, child abuse, drug test, college transcripts, college diploma)
–  Valid driver’s license, auto insurance and registered vehicle available for use at work
