The Administrative Assistant II assists in coordinating administrative activities for the Department of Educational Studies by providing administrative support to the chair, departmental faculty members and the placement coordinator. The position involves significant student interaction, work with staff members and faculty in all departments on campus, correspondence with staff members at partnering institutions and schools, data management (e.g. state and federal accountability support, managing Act 153 Clearance Process for students), budget management; document, correspondence and email preparation; scheduling and management of appointments, supervision of student workers, and other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in an administrative or office capacity, which includes prior experience using computers, office software, and spreadsheets.
- Website development/maintenance.
- Mastery of intermediate skill level in Word, Excel, Power Point, Google docs and internet search software.
- Previous budget experience.

- Problem solving (and flexibility) needed to address and implement changing state certification requirements, college systems, and emerging technologies
- Excellent communication skills to be applied to telephone communications and to written communications such as email, letters, and memos.
- Strong editing and proofreading skills.
- Good planning and organizational skills.
- Solid mathematical skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with confidential information.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, take initiative, and work independently.
- Ability to work independently as part of a team environment.
- Ability to work additional hours as needed during busy times.
The College is located in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, 11 miles southwest of Philadelphia and is part of the tri-College Consortium with Bryn Mawr and Haverford Colleges, cross-registration with the University of Pennsylvania is also offered.
