PEC and DVRPC Sponsor Active Transportation Summit
The Pennsylvania Environmental Council (PEC) and the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC) would like to invite you to the Active Transportation Summit. Our aim is to educate and excite new partners about our region’s growing network of multi-use trails and bikeways. In addition to connecting people to the outdoors, we view trails as a strategy to provide people with more transportation choices, to encourage economic development, and to help people lead healthier lives.
The Summit will feature many local and national experts including Jackie Epping, Lead Public Health Scientist in the Physical Activity and Health Branch, Division of Nutrition, at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Ms. Epping is currently leading the process to update national recommendations for community-based physical activity interventions. We are pleased to announce that Giridhar Mallya, MD, MHSP, Director of Policy and Planning for the Philadelphia Department of Public Health will provide a local response.
