Robert Wood Johnson Foundation announces funds to stimulate and support research to increase the understanding of how environments and policies affect children’s physical activity in community and school settings. The Foundation’s areas of focus are: 1) examination of how children and parents’ perceptions of community and recreation environments are related to objective attributes of the environment and how those perceptions affect their desire to use the environment for physical activity; and 2) evaluation of policy interventions to promote physical activity in schools.
