Posted by on November 3, 2006
The Afterschool Alliance has developed new resources to help afterschool leaders and advocates get involved in health promotion efforts in their communities. Active Hours Afterschool: Local Wellness Policy Toolkit for Afterschool Programs, outlines steps to get involved in the development of district-level local wellness policies, which must be established by the 2006-2007 school year. Other new tools include the report Active Hours Afterschool: Childhood Obesity and the Role of Afterschool Programs as a Solution, and an issue brief, ?Active Hours Afterschool: Childhood Obesity Prevention & Afterschool Programs.? These can be found on the Active Hours Afterschool resource page at: http://www.afterschoolalliance.org/active_hours.cfm.
