Posted by on May 12, 2006
The Achieving Independence Center is a “one-stop” center designed to help young people who are or were in dependent care (i.e. foster care, group home, residental, etc.) at age 16 and above, achieve their future goals of self sufficiency.
Offering non-traditional hours, flexible scheduling accommodating in-school and out-of-school youth and on-site job training, the AI Center is dedicated to providing support and real life tools for youth who want to make an investment in their future.
The AI Center partners with many Philadelphia based groups dedicated to providing high quality programs for youth to achieve independent living. AI Center programs and services include:
o Education
o Life Skills Training
o Employment
o Technology
o Housing
o Mentoring
o Healthy Relationships
o Linkage to other resources
Each youth works with an AI Center coach to create a customized service plan that will help them to achieve their goals. Whether looking to complete high school, enter college or vocational training, get a job or a place of their own, AI Center staff provide support to help dreams become a reality!
Eligible youth must be between 16 and 21 years of age and be in or have been in out-of-home placement by the age of 16.
