ACHIEVEability Announces First Annual #GivingTuesday Volunteer Drive
ACHIEVEability is proud to announce our first annual #GivingTuesday Holiday Volunteer Drive, which will begin during the week of #GivingTuesday (December 2 – December 6). #GivingTuesday (December 3) occurs every Tuesday after Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday.
It was created to be an international social movement that reminds us of the true meaning of the holiday season: to spend time with loved ones and to give back to those less fortunate. ACHIEVEability will be providing the opportunity to do both through participation of our Housing Makeover Projects.
ACHIEVEability will be inviting groups as small as 4 to 5 volunteers and as large as 30 to 40 volunteers, to paint and rehab one of our 158 housing properties. Due to special circumstances, ACHIEVEability will have an unusually high number of vacant properties in the coming months. Vacant units mean more families on the waiting list to start their journey to self-sufficiency, higher than budgeted costs to ACHIEVEability and lost rental income. Therefore, the more volunteers that participate in #GivingTuesday, the more families we can transition into self-sufficiency.
We are proud to announce that we have already confirmed participation from the following companies and organizations: Brownstone PR, De Lage Landen, the Young Friends of ACHIEVEability, and Jones Lang LaSalle. If you are interested in participating in ACHIEVEability’s first annual #GivingTuesday Holiday Volunteer Drive, please contact us at (215) 748-8809 or development@achieveability.org.
ACHIEVEability is an agency that permanently breaks the cycle of poverty for low-income, single-parent and homeless families. ACHIEVEability provides housing and supportive services so parents can pursue higher education and become self-sufficient. Everything we do promotes accountability for our families. This year, ACHIEVEability is celebrating 32 years of helping families achieve self-sufficiency.
