The National Constitution Center is a nonpartisan nonprofit organization devoted to teaching about the Constitution. Located on Philadelphia’s historic Independence Mall, steps from where the Constitution was drafted and signed, it serves as America’s leading platform for constitutional education and debate, fulfilling its congressional charter “to disseminate information about the U.S. Constitution on a nonpartisan basis in order to increase awareness and understanding of the Constitution among the American people.”
POSITION SUMMARY
The Accounting Clerk provides administrative support for the Finance Department and financial-related administrative support for the entire organization. Due to the nature of this position, all tasks are carried out in a confidential manner.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process all receivable cash, checks, credit cards, and ACH payments, reconciling transactions with appropriate departments
- Reconcile contributed support with the Development department on an ongoing basis
- Maintain CRM financial integrity
- Enter cash receipts into the accounting system
- Assist the Vice President of Finance & Administration with foundation and government grant management
- Assist Assistant Controller with the month-end close
- Assist in the preparation of the annual audit, 401-k audit, and the Center’s 990 tax return
- Assist in annual filings to maintain the Center’s national charitable organization status
- Handle overall office administrative duties including, but not limited to, ordering office supplies and stationary, and copier and postage machine maintenance
- Assist in the preparation of monthly expense reports for all Center credit cards
- Distribute and reconcile petty cash
- Perform random auditing of box office cash drawers and safe on a weekly basis
- Complete all Federal and State required surveys
- Perform other duties as assigned
