What is Access Engineering?
University of Pennsylvania’s engineering outreach club, dedicated to providing Philadelphia public school students with an introduction to fields of engineering is a school-recognized free engineering education program run by University of Pennsylvania college students. Our mission is to cultivate Philadelphia high school students’ interest in engineering and demonstrate their capability to make meaningful change, while providing mentorship for post-high school life.
Why apply to our program?
- Our aim is to not only teach students practical engineering skills, but also to give exposure to various engineering educations, demonstrate engineering as a viable career path, and provide mentorship for post-high school life.
- Access Engineering provides subsidized SEPTA transportation and free lunch for all students.
Our Curriculum: Our lessons are focused on hands-on labs and one-on-one interaction with college students. The session is split into 6 fields:
- Biomedical Engineering
- Computer Science
- Electrical Engineering
- Material Science
- Mechanical Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
Our lessons will be held on Penn’s campus on Saturday mornings from 10am – 1:30pm for 7 weeks. Our schedule has lessons starting on February 14th and ending on April 25th.
