Academically-based Community Service (ABCS) Coordinator

Job description

Academically-based community service courses at the University of Pennsylvania strive to integrate real-world, West Philadelphia-based problem-solving into the academic curriculum across the many departments and schools at Penn. Based at the Center for Community Partnerships, the ABCS program has grown significantly over the past few years. The CCP helps coordinate over 50 courses each year and is always working with faculty, students and community partners to develop new learning opportunities.

The ABCS coordinator works closely with the Director and Associate Director to facilitate the development and support of the ABCS program; meets regularly with ABCS faculty, teaching assistants and community school partners to support the design and implementation of courses and ensure mutually-beneficial collaboration between university and community partners; facilitates collaboration among other CCP-based programs and program coordinators and ABCS courses and students; serves as a liaison between local schools and CCP/Penn; maintains extensive files and records on ABCS courses, both electronic and paper; manage work-study students to support administrative tasks.

The ABCS coordinator reports to the Director and Associate Director of the Center for Community Partnerships

Qualifications:
B.A/B.S.
Able to facilitate communication and collaboration among diverse groups of people; flexible schedule to meet needs of diverse constituents; excellent organizational and administrative skills; self-driven and confident; ready to take initiative; creative problem-solver; passionate about community problem-solving through university partnerships. Knowledge of service-learning in higher education and experience working with public schools strongly preferred.
