Something Inside So Strong: A Resource Guide on Human Rights in the US
Human rights abuses occur in the United States. These abuses occur in cities and rural areas, in our homes, in prisons, and in courts. Human rights violations are a US problem, not merely a problem of other countries. When civil rights are violated, human rights are violated-only the terminology and legal relief differs. Human rights law, however, offers a broader array of rights protections than domestic US law. A human rights approach also offers new tools to strengthen domestic advocacy in terms of framework, method, and strategy.
This Resource Guide provides concrete models and case studies of the successful use of the human rights framework; identifies resources for collaborative efforts; and provide practical approaches to applying human rights domestically. Key human rights resources available to activists to both educate themselves and take action are also provided.
The Network is offering a limited number of copies to organizations and individuals at no cost.
