A Night of Urban Farming and Astronomy
Posted by on April 16, 2012
A Night of Urban Farming and Astronomy Sponsored by The Federation of Neighborhood Centers and The Franklin Institute
Teens 4 Good, the Federation of Neighborhood Centers’ stellar program, is a youth-led food production and nutrition business that transforms vacant lots into urban farms that grow fresh vegetables, herbs, fruit and flowers.
Visit the first Teens 4 Good (T4G) farm where you will meet the T4G youth and farmers as they give tours of the farm. During the tour, you will learn about the different crops the youth grow; a new water catchment system that recycles water for irrigating their produce; and the Teens 4 Good weekly market stand. In addition, you will receive delicious chocolate candy** made from the T4G home grown mint.
After the tour, join us in our first Astronomy night where, under the guidance of a Franklin Institute astronomer, we will shift our gazes to the sky to learn about the stars and planets above us.
Date: Friday, April 27, 2012
Place: Teens 4 Good farm, 800 Poplar Street (8th & Poplar Streets), 19123
Time: Farm Tours: 6pm – 7:30pm; Astronomy Night: 7:30 – 9:00pm.
