A Message for Campuses About Voter Participation
Posted by American Association of Colleges and Universities on October 13, 2020
During this time of national reckoning with racial injustice, the commitment to democratic and civic engagement as a vital component of a liberal education has taken on particular urgency. Educating students to be socially responsible, informed, and engaged citizens should be an expected goal on every campus, in every major. Our democracy depends on a culture that values civic engagement. Campuses can help shape culture and drive civic action within their communities and beyond.
In this brief video, narrated by AAC&U President Lynn Pasquerella, civil rights icon and advisor to AAC&U’s Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation Campus Centers effort, Bernard Lafayette, offers a stirring call to action ahead of the coming election. We invite you to watch and share this video with your campus community.
