The Middle Grades Bridge Summer program focuses on exposure to career exploration and math for rising 7th-rising 9th graders from local middle schools. The 9th grade Math Teacher will develop and teach lesson plans exposing students to math topics and skills they will learn during the first year of high school. focuses on the transition to high school. In addition to math practice, the program emphasizes time management, study skills, goal setting, and college readiness.
The 9th grade Math Teacher will report to the Math Coach and work in partnership with summer staff to deliver rigorous and engaging summer programming. Students in the program will be heavily recruited from our seven partner schools; Dunbar Elementary, Duckrey Elementary, Bethune Elementary, McMichael Elementary, Julia R Masterman, Girard Arts Music Program, and George W. Carver Engineering and Science school.The 9th grade Math Teacher will leave the program with new skills and ideas to apply to future classrooms or jobs. All teachers will be allotted up to 8 hours of remote preparation and planning time between June 9th-June 27th.
