New Poll shows Americans Want To Expand National Service Programs To Help Unify Country
Posted by Service Year Alliance on February 2, 2021
Service Year Alliance aims to make a year of service part of growing up in America. We have witnessed time and again the great potential in bringing corps members together to serve a common purpose, create empathy, and learn to work across differences by addressing local community needs. As we continue to advocate for the expansion of service years, we wanted to understand whether Americans felt the same.
To that end, we completed a poll in early January with Change Research. We published this press release on Monday and shared some of these toplines:
- 77% of Americans, including majorities of both Democrats and Republicans, support an expansion of national service;
- 67% of Americans believe the Biden-Harris administration should prioritize programs that can help to heal divides in the country;
- And, 63% of Americans feel national service is a program that can do just that.
