5th Annual #RealCollege Conference: Policy & Change – Sep 16-18
Posted by The Hope Center on March 29, 2022
The pandemic laid bare longstanding equity challenges confronting our nation, including inside colleges and universities. Education beyond high school is now an essential stop on the path to a stable life—yet nearly 3 in 5 college students lack access to essential resources like food, housing, health care, technology, transportation, personal hygiene supplies, and childcare. Being hungry to learn, which overwhelmingly affects racially minoritized communities, is hampering college attainment for those who need it the most. It’s time for change—not in how many food pantries open on college campuses, but in the policies and systems that created this problem in the first place.
We invite you to move beyond thoughts and prayers to partner with changemakers fighting for solutions at the 5th Annual #RealCollege Conference on September 16–18, 2022 at Rutgers University-Camden (Campus Center Building, 326 Penn Street, Camden, NJ)..
Exemplifying our commitments to diversity, equity, and inclusion, the #RealCollege conference offers an actionable agenda of activites:
- How to effectively blend and braid higher education funding streams and public benefits to meet students’ needs and promote degree completion;
- Cutting red tape and alleviating administrative burden keeping students from resources;
- Building state support for affordability needs beyond tuition;
- Sustaining critical pandemic reforms, including emergency aid;
- Leveraging basic needs supports to improve workforce pathways.
