PennSERVE: The Governor’s Office of Citizen Service is pleased to announce that registration is now open for the upcoming 55+ Volunteer Recruitment & Management Training happening on Friday, May 21st at the Eisenhower Hotel & Conference Center in Gettysburg from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The training is open to National Service staff, participants, and host site partners for AmeriCorps, VISTA, Senior Corps and Learn & Serve, Volunteer Center directors & staff, and any nonprofit volunteer recruiters and managers from across the Commonwealth. Join PennSERVE and your colleagues in exploring the topic of volunteer recruitment and management, particularly focusing on individuals 55+.
Learn how to capture the energy and experience of this unique group of potential volunteers through:
* A panel presentation by collaborating agencies, such as: AARP, The Intergenerational Center at Temple University, the Volunteer Centers of PA, the United Way of Lancaster County, the Senior Corps Association, and others.
* A panel of 55+ Volunteers who are using their time and expertise to benefit others
* Breakout workshop sessions exploring: characteristics of America’s generations, how to craft quality positions for your volunteers, and best practices from the field
* Networking with colleagues in the National Service and volunteer sectors
* Exhibits and take home resources
There is no registration fee to attend and no charge for meals during the training, but each participant is responsible for his/her own travel and lodging expenses. A limited number of hotel rooms have been held at the Eisenhower Hotel & Conference Center for both Thursday the 20th and Friday the 21st at the rate of $89.00 + applicable taxes per night for anyone who may wish to travel in the night before or to stay the night of the training into Saturday. PennSERVE will not be handling reservations for this training. Room reservations must be made by contacting the hotel directly at the following number: 717-334-8121. We encourage participants to bring your families and to come early or to stay over for the weekend and explore the history of Gettysburg, too.
