IRA Invites Proposals for 2015 Teacher as Researcher Grant

The International Reading Association is a global nonprofit network of individuals and institutions committed to promoting literacy around the world. More than 56,000 members strong, the association supports literacy professionals through a wide range of resources, advocacy efforts, voluntarism, and professional development activities.

To that end, the association is seeking proposals for the 2015 Teacher as Researcher Grant program.

Grants of up to $4,000 will be awarded to support teacher inquiries related to literacy and instruction. Grant-related studies may be carried out using any research method or approach so long as the focus is on reading/writing or literacy. Activities such as developing new programs or instructional materials are not eligible for funding unless the activities are necessary for conducting the research.

Priority will be given to smaller grant requests in order to support as many teacher researchers as possible.

To be eligible, applicants must be practicing pre-K-12 teachers with full- or part-time classroom teaching responsibilities and members in good standing of IRA.

For complete program guidelines, information about previous grant recipients, a sample proposal, and application instructions, visit the IRA website.

DEADLINE: JANUARY 15, 2015
