38th Annual George Washington Carver Science Fair – Spring 2017

Who:

4-6 Graders – Elementary Fair
7-12 Graders – Secondary Fair

What: Philadelphia’s premier city-wide science fair open to all students in the city limits: public, private, Catholic, charter, home school, virtual, and those in placement. Students can be sponsored by a teacher, an after school program, or partners they may have in universities.

When and Where:

Elementary (Grades 4-6) at the Academy of Natural Science of Drexel University

Tuesday 2/21/17 2pm – 5pm Student Set Up
Wednesday 2/22/17 12:30pm – 4:30pm Judging Day
Thursday 2/23/17 7am – 7pm Students Pick Up Projects
Friday 3/3/17 1:30pm – 3:30pm Awards Ceremony
Secondary (Grades 7-12) at Temple University Student Athletic Pavilion

Monday 3/13/17 1pm – 5pm Student Set Up
Tuesday 3/14/17 12:30pm – 4:30pm Judging Day
Wednesday 3/15/17 9am – 6pm Students Pick Up Projects
Friday 3/24/17 1:30pm – 3:30pm Awards Ceremony @ Academy of Natural Science of Drexel University
How do you get involved?

  1. Register online now at http://www.carversciencefair.org/building-a-project.html
  2. Plan your experiment with a teacher or sponsor.
  3. Start running your experiment or study.
  4. Complete your paper application packet and mail it in by Monday, January 9, 2017, to Rachel Cherry, School District of Philadelphia, Education Center, 440 N. Broad Street, Suite 251; Philadelphia, PA 19130. Online registration does NOT guarantee participation. You must send in a paper application.

FREE student and/or teacher workshops to prepare for the Carver Science Fair are available. Most workshops run about 1 ½ hours but can be tailored to fit any time slot and/or your specific needs. Rooms with tables and internet access are best for most workshops. Workshops can be scheduled during or after school hours and/or evenings.
