2nd Annual Walk for Fairmount Park
Sunday, October 23, 2005
Registration: 8:00 a.m.
Walk Begins: 9:00 a.m.
The 3-mile Walk will take place in West Fairmount Park and will highlight some of its ?hidden treasures? such as Memorial Hall, the Japanese House and Garden, Cedar Grove, Sweetbriar Mansion, the Horticulture Center, and outdoor sculptures. Walk for the Park raises much needed awareness and funds for Fairmount Park?s programs and initiatives.
September 2004 marked the inaugural Walk. Funds raised through last year?s event benefited a new and improved web site about Fairmount Park ? http://www.fairmountpark.org. Check out the newly-launched site when you have a chance!
This year we’re hoping to have 1,000 walkers and welcome your participation. Below are some ways in which to get involved and help make Fairmount Park even better. Join us!
Form a Team ? To have a walk, we need walkers. One of the most helpful things you can do is form a team. The more, the merrier. Ask friends, family members, and co-workers to join you on October 23. A team is comprised of five or more walkers and you can keep adding walkers as you go. A Team Captain packet, provided by Fairmount Park makes organizing a team easy.
Join a Sub-committee – Help with Registration, Entertainment, Volunteer Recruitment, Food Procurement, Corporate Sponsorship, Team Recruitment or Brochure Distribution.
Promote Walk for the Park ? Include articles about Fairmount Park?s Walk for the Park in your company, place of worship, and/or club newsletters, hang posters around your office building, send group e-mails/voice mails, and let as many people as possible know about this event.
For more information, please call the Fairmount Park Conservancy 215-790-3653 or e-mail them at info2@fairmountparkconservancy.org.
