2024 Virtual Forum on Digital Innovation Leveraging Innovative Digital Practices to Ensure All Students Learn and Succeed – Feb 9

Posted by American Association of Colleges and Universities on December 19, 2023

AAC&U’s Forum on Digital Innovation is co-hosted by the Association for Authentic, Experiential and Evidence-Based Learning (AAEEBL, the association of ePortfolio professionals); AAC&U’s Valid Assessment of Learning in Undergraduate Education (VALUE) initiative; and the International Journal of ePortfolio (IJeP).

AAC&U’s newly conceptualized Forum on Digital Innovation is a one-day, online event taking place on Friday, February 9, 2024. It is the next step in the evolution of our Forum on Open Learning and ePortfolios, which was previously a component of AAC&U’s Annual Meeting. Now a standalone event, the new Forum on Digital Innovation will continue to highlight open learning practices and ePortfolios while also exploring the full range of evidence-based approaches, innovative strategies, and emerging domains that support and facilitate the goals of learning, equity, affordability, and access in higher education.

Historically, we have adapted the forum to embrace current events, technological needs, digital innovations, and progress that resulted in substantive changes in the higher education domain, such as the addition of a Curricular, Pedagogical, and Digital Innovation track in the 2021 Annual Meeting or incorporating open learning in AAC&U programming starting in 2022. In keeping with this practice, we are now evolving the forum to encompass rapidly emerging practices and technologies in education—such as artificial intelligence, digital equity, and digital ethics—to reframe the event as the Forum on Digital Innovation and adding an “Innovation” track alongside the “ePortfolio Practice and Research” and the “Open Learning” tracks.

This event will offer interactive, concurrent sessions and workshop opportunities for participants to share their research and practice. It will also highlight a range of faculty development approaches, leadership strategies, and student voices that are being leveraged successfully to prepare and facilitate campus utilization of established and emerging technologies, including those that serve as disruptors of current practice.
