2022 Election: Young Voters Have High Midterm Turnout, Influence Critical Races
Posted by CIRCLE on November 15, 2022
Elections are a valuable opportunity for young people across the country to make their voices heard, support action on issues they care about, and grow as active voters and leaders in our democracy.
CIRCLE estimates that 27% of youth (ages 18-29) cast a ballot, making this the midterm election with the second-highest youth voter turnout in almost three decades. They also estimate that youth turnout was even higher in some battleground states.
While the votes are still being counted across the country and control of the U.S. House and Senate remain undecided, it’s clear that young people had a major impact on the 2022 midterms. Explore all our data including our exclusive day-after estimate of youth voter turnout.
