Foundation for Opioid Response Efforts Invites Applications for 2021 Opioid Crisis Innovation Challenge
The Foundation for Opioid Response Efforts (FORE) mission is to convene and support partners advancing patient-centered, innovative, evidence-based solutions impacting people experiencing opioid use disorder (OUD), their families, and their communities.
To that end, FORE has issued a request for proposals for the Opioid Crisis Innovation Challenge 2021, through which grants of up to $300,000 per year for as many as two years will be awarded in support of specific projects that use an innovative approach to address long-standing and complex issues related to all aspects of stemming the tide of the nation’s opioid crisis. The RFP targets projects that can explore and/or evaluate new “outside-the-box” ideas, bring together approaches from diverse fields, and engage multi-disciplinary, cross-sector teams to solve some of the most intractable problems associated with OUD. Initially, the opportunity will focus on professional education and training, timely and actionable data, and supporting the transition from treatment to recovery.
FORE prioritizes work that incorporates a focus on patient-centered solutions and health equity and reaching diverse high-risk populations. FORE also assesses projects within a framework of meeting one or more of our overarching objectives of supporting: policy initiatives, professional education, payer and provider strategies, and public awareness.
FORE will consider grant requests for specific projects from U.S.-based public charities that are tax exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, including nonprofit, tax-exempt universities. In addition, the foundation will consider grant requests from state, local, and Native American tribal government units or agencies for specific charitable projects.
Concept notes are due July 19. Upon review, selected applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal by July 30, 2021.
For complete program guidelines and application instructions, see the Foundation for Opioid Response Efforts website.
Deadline: July 19, 2021 (Concept Note)
