A Blade of Grass Invites Applications for 2020 Fellowship for Socially Engaged Art
A Blade of Grass Fellowship for Socially Engaged Art supports courageous artists in creating exchanges, experiences, and structures that highlight seemingly intractable social problems, inspire audiences, and energize folks to participate in and sustain long-term social change work.
Through the program, eight fellows with socially engaged art projects will be awarded $20,000 in minimally restricted support; an expenses paid two-day orientation retreat in New York City where they will engage a cohort of peer artists and Blade of Grass staff and board (a requirement for the fellowship); ongoing invitations to networking events for all Blade of Grass Fellows and alumni; and ongoing promotion of their projects through Blade of Grass social media networks and website.
To be eligible, lead applicants must be a citizen or resident of the U.S. with legal work status (although projects may take place globally). Lead applicants also must be at least twenty-five years of age by May 1, 2020, with the exception of the POC Emerging Fellowships. POC Emerging Fellowships are for artists who are at least 20 and no older than 30 by May 1, 2020.
See the A Blade of Grass website for complete program guidelines, application instructions, and a list of previously awarded fellows.
Deadline: October 16, 2019
