2020-2021 UWGLV AmeriCorps VISTA Positions – July 10

United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley has begun our search for our 2020-2021 AmeriCorps VISTAs!  The deadline to apply is 7/10/2020.

United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley (UWGLV) is committed to improving lives and community conditions.  We strive to create population level change in the areas of education, food access, healthy aging and emergency services to ensure individuals who experience crises have the supports they need to rebound.  We focus on strengthening the networks of providers that deliver services to address these concerns and through leading efforts across all four-issue areas, we address issues at the programmatic and systemic levels seeking to identify and deal with the root causes. We utilize the collective impact framework as a method for this problem solving of complex social issues and we embrace and promote the vision of diversity, equity and inclusion practices as an asset towards creating positive change.  AmeriCorps VISTAs that serve with UWGLV support these efforts to help us build capacity within our region across all of impact areas which will help us continue to grow and strengthen, align and leverage more from within and outside of our collective networks to support a thriving greater Lehigh Valley community.

An AmeriCorps VISTA assignment is unpaid and lasts for one year. Participants must be 18 years of age and have a combination of community service and/or equivalent college experience.  They receive an end-of-service stipend or education award, health coverage, training, a relocation allowance, a living allowance and childcare assistance if eligible.  The work is full-time; VISTAs are permitted to do paid part-time work during their assignment to supplement their income.

Our AmeriCorps VISTAs work closely with our community team, assignments are based in our UW office, school districts and community schools. 16 assignments are currently posted.
