2019 Bridge Walk for Peace – Apr 4
Posted by Global Citizen on March 26, 2019
Please join members of the faith and service community to commemorate the anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., on Thursday, April 4, 2019. The 12th Annual Bridge Walk for Peace will start with a sunrise walk across the Ben Franklin Bridge, followed by coffee and a discussion around Dr. King and the impact of gun violence, particularly on young people, in our communities.
The event will start promptly at 6:00 AM (when the pedestrian walkway opens) at the north walkway entrance (5th and Race Streets) of the Philadelphia side of the Ben Franklin Bridge.
Walkers will traverse across the bridge, stopping at the pinnacle to offer a prayer for peace at sunrise, and return to Philadelphia (approximately 3 miles total).
Following the Bridge Walk, we will gather at Old St. George’s United Methodist Church (235 N. 4 th Street), located at the foot of the Bridge, to discuss ways to work for peace in our communities.
