2018 Camden Environmental Summit
Posted by Camden Collaborative Initiative on May 7, 2018
As the only event of its kind in the region, the Camden Environmental Summit provides an opportunity for community groups, nonprofit organizations, environmental leaders, and government officials to unite under a common agenda, educate one another on the importance and effectiveness of collaboration to address stormwater management, climate resilience, brownfields redevelopment, illegal dumping, health, environmental education, and make progress toward the goal of improving the quality of life for Camden’s residents.
The event will be held on June 6 at the Rutgers Camden campus.
The City of Camden, with support from Cooper’s Ferry Partnership, Camden County Municipal Utilities Authority, New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, United States Environmental Protection Agency, launched the Camden Collaborative Initiative (CCI) in 2013. The Collaborative is building upon the success of environmental initiatives underway, made possible by the efforts and resources of multiple partners that have voluntarily come together to address the complex environmental issues present in the City. The CCI was formed to realize the many opportunities to maintain, restore, and enhance the environmental resources in Camden. Through seven separate working groups, the CCI tackles the City’s complex environmental issues and mitigates the impacts of environmental injustices. The CCI facilitates and leverages partnerships for proactive, holistic, and innovative solutions to help Camden become a vibrant and sustainable city. To date, the CCI has connected and engaged with over 60 partners throughout the region to further improve the quality of life for Camden residents.
