2017-2018 Report on PHENND GEAR UP
Posted by PHENND on May 21, 2018
Overview of PHENND GEAR UP
The Philadelphia Higher Education Network for Neighborhood Development (PHENND), operating under the fiscal sponsorship of the University of Pennsylvania, engages multiple campuses across the region to support the GEAR UP CRCC (College Readiness Collaborative Communities) objectives through direct service. PHENND manages a cohort of campus partners who in turn, recruit, train, place and manage college student volunteers (GEAR UP Coaches) using a “College Positive Volunteerism” framework. Primary activities include tutoring in math, English and other core subjects, college visits, and panel speakers for both the 9th and 10th grade cohorts at GEAR UP schools.
