2014 Service Leaders Summit
Posted by PHENND on September 29, 2014
Drexel’s Lindy Center for Civic Engagement and PHENND are pleased to host the 2014 Service Leaders Summit.
Saturday, November 1, 2014
Drexel University
This event will bring together college students, faculty, nonprofit professionals, and community organizers to share passionate ideas and practical skills for building a better Philadelphia. This year’s theme, ACCESS, is designed to focus awareness on disparities in multiple areas. We anticipate sessions on access to food, access to healthcare, access to education (including college access), etc.
Eva Gladstein, Executive Director of the Mayor’s Office of Community Empowerment and Opportunity will give the keynote address. The focus of agency, recently formed by Mayor Michael Nutter, is to align the City’s efforts to lift individuals and communities out of poverty and increase opportunities for low income individuals and families. Gladstein previously served as Deputy Director of the Philadelphia City Planning Commission and recently completed a three-year assignment as Executive Director of the 31-member Philadelphia Zoning Code Commission, successfully reforming and modernizing Philadelphia’s 50-year old zoning code.
General admission is $10. This fee includes continental breakfast, lunch, and a Service Leaders Summit giveaway!
