One Book, Every Young Child selection made
The 2014 PA One Book Every Young Child selection is Stripes of All Types by Susan Stockdale. Stripes of All Types explores how animals around the world benefit from their stripes through engaging rhymes and bright, bold images. Each striped creature is described in action in its natural habitat. The book ends with a fun game for children to guess what animal the given stripe pattern represents. There is also a glossary that includes information about each animal.
The goal of the PA One Book, Every Young Child Program is to increase awareness of the importance of reading and engaging children in stories among adults with preschoolers in their lives.
Certified and registered childcare facilities, Head Start programs, Migrant Education programs, PA Pre-K Counts programs and family literacy programs will receive a free copy of the book, as well as posters and activity guides. Copies can also be ordered here.
