2012 Healthy Schools Summit
Posted by on April 02, 2012
As a member of the Food Fit Philly Coalition, you are invited to join the Philadelphia Campaign for Healthier Schools, Get Healthy Philly, The Food Trust, and the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia for the 2012 Healthy Schools Summit! Present at the event will be School Wellness Council Champions, Health and Physical Education teachers, principals, city officials, and faculty and students of area universities. Dr. John Ratey, Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and author of Spark: The Revolutionary New Science of Exercise and the Brain, joins us to discuss the important impact that physical activity has on academic performance and the ways in which we must work together to continue to improve the wellness climate and culture in our schools. This event serves to celebrate the achievements of School Wellness Councils across the District and instruct and inform educators, school administrators, community-based organizations, and City executives of the steps we need to take in order to sustain the work of the Campaign for Healthier Schools.
