2010 PHILADELPHIA NATIONAL AMERICORPS WEEK FESTIVITIES: May 8th-15th
Philadelphia AmeriCorps Week Rally – Monday, May 10, 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM
To formally celebrate and kick-off National AmeriCorps Week, a rally will be held from 9:00 – 10:00 AM on Monday, May 10th, at Philadelphia City Hall, Dilworth Plaza. The rally will acknowledge and celebrate the impact of AmeriCorps members and alums throughout Philadelphia. Come join us! Philadelphia AmeriCorps Week Community Service Opportunities: May 10th- May 15th
We are proud to present over 200 volunteer opportunities during AmeriCorps Week and you are invited to join AmeriCorps members and alums in a variety of community service projects at venues such as: Overbrook Arts Center, Career Wardrobe, Philadelphia READS, and HOPE worldwide. AmeriCorps Week Social Events – May 8th-15th
AmeriCorps members will be holding a variety of social and networking events for current members, alums, and prospective members throughout the week: come out and celebrate the impact of service with snacks and cocktails all week long! AmeriCorps Alumni: we want to hear from you!
AmeriCorps Alums are encouraged to come out on May 13th to the Mexican Post, 1601 Cherry Street, to celebrate the impact of service over cocktails and snacks, as well as get involved with the Philadelphia AmeriCorps Alumni Chapter. Alums are also encouraged to submit stories of service to help build an archive that will highlight the impact of AmeriCorps members (especially within Philadelphia) over the years. Submissions should be 1 – 2 pages in length. If you’d like to get involved with any alumni activities or submit a “Story of Service,” please contact Rachel Turner via email at rturner@globalcitizen.us.com or (215) 665-2459.
