PCA to host east coast aging conference
An estimated 800 professionals and others interested in aging issues will convene at Philadelphia Corporation for Aging, 642 North Broad Street in Philadelphia, to attend the American Society on Aging’s 2010 East Coast Conference on Aging beginning on Monday, September 13th through Friday, September 17th.
The conference features 42 sessions and 80 faculty presenters. Topics include mental health; aging in place; intergenerational advocacy; creativity; pets and seniors; elder abuse and the law; end-of-life issues; immigration; civic engagement; health; legal issues for an aging workforce and more. Continuing education credits are available for nurses, health care workers and other professionals.
Nationally-known presenters include Patrick Abore, Ed.D., director and founder of the Center for Elderly Suicide Prevention and Grief-Related Services at the Institute on Aging; Gail Hunt, president and CEO of the National Alliance for Caregiving; Felicia Fuller, Dr.PH, associate director of the Brain Health Initiative for the Alzheimer’s Association; and Sandra Timmerman, Ed.D., assistant vice president and director of the MetLife Mature Market Institute.
