Service-Learning at It’s Best!
There’s still time to register for this year’s 15th Annual National Service-Learning Conference to be held in sunny Orlando, Florida. During March 28th -31st, join thousands of educators, students, and members of community-based organizations interested in service-learning as an education and community development strategy.
Some Pre-Conference Workshops you won’t want to miss:
-Service Learning for the Rookie: Designed for the practitioners who are new to the field, this hands-on, interactive workshop provides an introduction to the core elements and components of service-learning.
-Showtime!: Performance art, choral readings, and poetry slams are placed within the service-learning pedagogy to find new ways to bring service-learning to life.
-HIV/AIDS Best Practice Research Forum: As a uniquely effective strategy that engages and activates young people in response to urgent issues, service-learning is positioned to be a potent force in HIV/AIDS prevention.
-Community-Based Service-Learning: Discussions of strategies for youth development and civic education as well as meeting community needs through the use of service-learning.
-Service-Learning & The Civic Mission of Higher Education: Review the historical and philosophical foundations of the civic mission of higher education, as well as current thinking and practices related to that mission and the role of service-learning in fulfilling that mission.
