Inaugurated in 2002, the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Lecture in Social Justice is an event typically held in January during the University’s celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. King. This lecture honors individuals and scholars of African descent who have committed themselves to social justice. The 13th annual Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Lecture in Social Justice featuring a conversation with Mayor of San Antonio, Texas, Julian Castro and President and Director of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, Sherrilyn Ifill.
