General Information
Networks for Training and Development, Inc. is proud to host its 12th Employment Supports Symposium, Employment 1st PA!. This Symposium brochure highlights a variety of sessions that explore strategies, best practices, and initiatives which enhance employment outcomes, while also helping to advance the belief that employment is an option that should be available to all! National and local presenters will share examples of success stories and provide valuable information. The full Symposium program will be available to you upon arrival at the Symposium.
This year’s Symposium celebrates the national movement towards employment as the FIRST option and preferred outcome for people with disabilities, rather than segregated options. This initiative, known as “Employment 1st”, has been adopted by Pennsylvania Office of Developmental Programs (PA ODP), and this year’s Symposium has a clear focus on this commitment. A variety of sessions focusing on transition, self-advocate and family perspectives, creative and innovative practices, organizational development, and building employer relationships will be offered for all to attend. This year’s Symposium will also include an Awards Dinner on Thursday evening.
New this Year, a Virtual Option!
Every attempt has been made to make the Symposium affordable to everyone who wishes to attend. We welcome all from across Pennsylvania and beyond to attend this exciting event! However, if you are unable to attend in-person, there is now an opportunity to attend “virtually”! By connecting via the internet and computer, you can attend some of this year’s Symposium wherever you are! More information about this exciting attendance option coming soon.
Who Should Attend?
This Symposium is for all those interested in supporting people with disabilities in finding and maintaining paid employment, and advancing the values and vision of Employment 1st! This includes employers, job coaches, employment specialists, people with disabilities, family members, administrators, and Supports Coordinators / case management staff across all disabilities, and interested others!
Accessibility is a Must!
This brochure is available in several formats on Networks’ website, http://www.networksfortraining.org. Alternative formats of this brochure are available upon request. During the Symposium, we will make every effort to meet individual needs so you can take full advantage of all this event has to offer. If you anticipate needing any type of accommodation or have questions about any other accessibility requests, please contact Julie Sozio ([email protected]) at 267.884.4424.
