The Tufts Health Plan Foundation is accepting Letters of Inquiry from nonprofit organizations for projects that champion communities as they improve the quality of life for all citizens at every stage of life.

The foundation will consider policy/advocacy projects in the areas of built environment, transportation, housing, social and civic participation and inclusion, employment, communication and information, and community support and health services. Projects should be collaborative and involve participants from all community arenas. Specifically, the foundation will fund policy and advocacy activities that advance communities toward the goal of achieving age-friendly status. Key aspects of the work should include community/civic engagement of diverse stakeholders in communities to mobilize and create change; participation among key stakeholders, including the voice of older adults; expanded access to programs and services; and systems change/improvement.

Community and Civic Engagement: The foundation will support activities where nonprofit organizations work together to address or support a specific issue/action that will strengthen an issue or lead to change(s) in the communities they serve. Activities may include convening diverse stakeholders, planning, and/or engaging in policy activities that can lead to healthy and age-friendly communities.

Access to Programs and Services: The foundation will support activities that provide access to transportation, information, and greater awareness about how older adults can improve their lives, health, and well-being.

The foundation does not set a minimum or maximum dollar amount for grants. Applicants should request the amount needed for a program and outline the expenditures for that amount accordingly in the LOI.

To be eligible, organizations must be considered tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and serve communities in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Letters of Inquiry must be received no later than July 20, 2016. Upon review, selected applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal no later than September 20, 2016.

See the Tufts Health Plan Foundation website for complete program guidelines and application instructions.

DEADLINE: JULY 20, 2016 (LETTERS OF INQUIRY)
