These grant-funded projects should introduce students to potential STEM careers. Teachers at eligible schools can submit individual applications for up to $1,500, or collaborative applications (two or more teachers participating) for up to $2,500.

All proposed projects must serve Black, Latinx, and female students by encouraging these students to actively engage in areas of STEM and encourage them to consider STEM careers. Applications will be submitted to the Fund for the School District of Philadelphia.

]]> Dress Down Day for Philly Public Schools, Oct. 4 https://phennd.org/update/dress-down-day-for-philly-public-schools-oct-4/ Tue, 27 Aug 2019 19:57:32 +0000 https://phennd.org/?post_type=update&p=63307 Last year, The Goldenberg Group and the Fund for the School District of Philadelphia launched the inaugural “Dress Down Day” initiative to raise funds and build support for Philly public schools. More than 1200 people dressed down raising over $38,000 for 140 different schools! People went wild to show off their gear with pictures and boomerangs tagging #dressdownphilly.

In year two, we’re doing it again and are setting our sights on raising $100,000 and 3000 people ‘dressed down’ on October 4th. 

Just like last year, participant contributions benefit the school of their choice. Our shirts are soft, stylish, and produced right here in Philly by a public school alumnus. We also added a special pin for those who want to participate but just can’t ditch the suit and tie. Either item on its own is $35 and we’re offering both for $50.

Participating in Dress Down Day for Philly Public Schools provides companies, their employees, groups and individuals an opportunity to make both a private and public display of support for Philly public schools. Plus, a portion of each contribution to The Fund is tax deductible.

There are three easy ways for individuals and groups to participate: a company can pay for shirts for employees but allow them to select the school their shirt will benefit or pay for all of the shirts and select a single school to benefit from the contribution AND any individual can purchase shirts on their own.
