The 2026 National Student Vote Summit will be November 18-20, 2026 in Mesa, Arizona at Mesa Community College.

After years of gathering on the East Coast, we’re excited to bring the summit to the Southwest for the first time, opening the door to new partners, new perspectives, and student leaders we don’t always get to convene with.

In collaboration with Mesa Community College’s Center for Civic Engagement and the Mesa Community College District, we’ll create an inspiring space for learning, connection, and celebration where every participant leaves equipped with the tools, relationships, and momentum to make 2027 a historic year for nonpartisan student voter engagement.

At the summit, we bring together nonprofit leaders, campus staff, administrators, faculty members, philanthropic partners, election officials, and students from across the country to continue a decade-strong tradition of collective action and impact.

This year, we will build on the momentum and insights from our 2025 Summit, where more than 330 nonpartisan student vote leaders took on challenges like local election turnout, combating misinformation, and reducing post-election disengagement. Together we aim to amplify our collective power and chart a course for an even more impactful 2027.

Call for Proposals: 2026 National Student Vote Summit – Jul 21

The Students Learn Students Vote (SLSV) Coalition is now accepting session and poster proposals for the 2026 National Student Vote Summit, taking place November 18-20 at Mesa Community College in Mesa, Arizona.

NSVS brings together practitioners, campus staff, faculty, nonprofit partners, local election officials, and students from across the country to share what’s working, what’s not, and where we go from here in nonpartisan student voter engagement. This is the first time the Summit comes to the Southwest, and the program aims to reflect the full range of voices and expertise doing this work nationwide.

Session proposals are open to campus admin, faculty, nonprofit staff, local election officials, and other civic engagement practitioners, with students welcome when submitting alongside a campus or nonprofit partner. Poster proposals are open to students focused on nonpartisan voter engagement work on their campus.

Proposal tracks include, but are not limited to: student leadership and organizing, voting rights and voter education, nonpartisan civic engagement beyond voting, institutionalization, creativity and storytelling, wellbeing, and navigating challenges.

The deadline for both is 11:59 PM PT on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.

The University of Northern Iowa, Weber State University, and Students Learn Students Vote Coalition (SLSV) are leading a research project to assess student learning outcomes in nonpartisan voter engagement programming through Spring 2027. The team is looking for campus vote coordinators who will incorporate four learning assessments into their nonpartisan programming this fall. Campus coordinators who participate will receive $500 upon completion of the study requirements.

The 2025 National Student Vote Summit, hosted by the Students Learn Students Vote Coalition, will be held on November 12-14 at the University of Maryland, College Park. This year’s Summit is our 10th annual gathering of campus professionals, students, and nonprofit partners. It’s a great chance for people from throughout the country who are involved with nonpartisan student voter engagement to share grounded strategies, build trusted networks, and prepare for what’s ahead.

The Students Learn Students Vote (SLSV) Coalition knows that real change happens when we connect, collaborate, and learn from one another. But right now, there’s no clear map of the spaces—virtual or in person—where that work is already happening across the student vote movement.

We’re working on a resource to change that.

Virtual Conversation: Impactful Nonpartisan Voter Mobilization Efforts – May 6

Updating “Your Major on the Ballot” for 2024

The Ask Every Student team is working to update one of its most popular resources, Your Major on the Ballot, which connects different academic disciplines to issues that may be on the ballot. (We’ve seen that this is a great way to motivate students and demonstrate the importance of voting, especially for historically low-turnout majors like STEM fields). We’re looking for folks to review and edit sections of the current resource for specific majors in which they have experience.

There is a template for the edits (that you can see here for reference) to make it as easy as possible and should only take around an hour or so of folks’ time. We’re hoping to have folks do this within the next two weeks, but the timeline is flexible! We’re especially looking for folks with experience in Psychology, Data Science, Urban Planning/Architecture, History, Foreign Languages, and Healthcare (Medicine, Nursing, Dental) fields to help edit those sections of this resource, but we’re open to folks in other fields if they’re interested in helping!

Community College Concert Competition

The Students Learn Students Vote (SLSV) Coalition has announced the Community College Concert Competition with partners Levi’s, SHOWTIME/MTV Entertainment Studios, Good Trouble Collaborative, and the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge, to help close the voter turnout gap between students at 2- and 4-year institutions. Entry to the competition is EXCLUSIVE to community colleges, and the winner will receive a free concert by a major recording artist on their campus on Vote Early Day (October 29, 2024).

Federal Work-Study for Voter Registration Implementation Toolkit

The U.S. Department of Education recently clarified that Federal Work-Study (FWS) funds can be utilized to support college students in performing nonpartisan work on elections, including on-campus voter registration and assisting government agencies such as state and local election offices. Importantly, this clarification helps institutions fulfill their requirement under the Higher Education Act to make a “good faith effort” to register students to vote.

To help institutions take advantage of this opportunity, the Students Learn Students Vote Coalition collaborated with the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge and Campus Vote Project to put together a Federal Work-Study for Voter Registration Implementation Toolkit: a comprehensive guide addressing common questions and challenges that arise when establishing the position, as well as detailed strategies informed by campuses that have successfully established FWS positions for nonpartisan voter registration.

Voting is not just a right. It’s a rite of passage – a cornerstone of American democracy. Institutions of higher education provide an ideal environment for installing and nurturing voting habits among young Americans. By establishing Federal Work-Study positions dedicated to nonpartisan student voter registration, institutions can empower student leaders, amplify peer-to-peer outreach efforts, and cultivate a vibrant culture of active citizenship on your campus.

Campus Nonpartisan Democratic Engagement Action Plan Virtual Workshops

An action plan is a dynamic document developed by an individual or campus voting coalition to document efforts to institutionalize and increase nonpartisan democratic engagement and student voter participation. Action plans are living documents that outline your campus context, leadership team, strategies, goals, and more to increase student voting and civic engagement.

A successful action plan will serve as a roadmap that documents specific strategies for starting new programs and initiatives or improving existing ones. It should help you take your goals and break them down into concrete steps toward your desired results. This will help your institution increase efficiency and accountability.

National Student Vote Summit – Nov 15-17

The Students Learn Students Vote Coalition is reconvening our partners in person for the first time since 2019. Our 2023 National Student Vote Summit (formerly known as the Post-Election Gathering) will be a unique opportunity to network and learn from #StudentVote leaders and experts from across the country. Together, we’ll explore strategies to prepare us for 2024 and participate in trainings on resources and innovative strategies to ask every student to participate in the democratic process.

Our summit will take place from November 15th to 17th, at The University of Maryland, College Park (UMD). Thanks to a partnership with the Maryland Democracy Initiative and TerpsVote, we promise an experience like no other, filled with forward-thinking programming that will empower attendees with the actionable insights they need ahead of the 2024 election.

The deadline to register for this summit is October 25.

The cost to attend the SLSV Coalition’s 2023 National Student Vote Summit is $150 for nonprofit professionals, philanthropic partners, election officials and campus professionals, and $75 for students. The registration cost covers access to all sessions, including keynote sessions, trainings, panels, and plenaries. It also includes both breakfast and lunch on November 16 and 17, as well as appetizers for an evening reception on November 15 and appetizers for a November 16 evening social..

We know that many leaders need to acquire funding to attend the summit. We’ve put together letters for students and faculty and staff to share with your student government, supervisor, budget coordinator, or campus administration, so you can demonstrate the importance of attending the National Student Vote Summit.

Founded in 2016, the Students Learn Students Vote (SLSV) Coalition is a diverse group of over 400 local, state, national, and student nonpartisan organizations working with nearly 2,000 college and university campuses. We’re the national hub and the largest nonpartisan network in the United States dedicated to increasing student voter participation and civic engagement. Through data-driven approaches and by working with organizations, campuses, and individuals, we design and advance a shared agenda around political learning and college student voting. The Students Learn Students Vote Coalition is a fiscally sponsored project of NEO Philanthropy, a 501(c)(3) organization.

Position Description:

The SLSV Coalition Campus Engagement and Support Coordinator works directly with SLSV partners, whether college campuses or nonprofit organizations, to support their student voter engagement efforts through our various programs and resources. This position will recruit new partners and advance the work of current partners using our existing resources and programs such as Ask Every Student, Campus Takeover, and our various subcommittees. As needed, this position may work with our coalition partners to create new resources, or iterate existing ones, to better support our campus and nonprofit partners. This position reports to the SLSV Coalition Deputy Director.

Job Responsibilities:

The Campus Engagement & Support Coordinator is responsible for the following:

Support campus and nonprofit partnership recruitment, retention, and empowerment efforts throughout the SLSV Coalition by coordinating with the SLSV partnerships, communications, and program teams.
Create, distribute, conduct, and track training sessions for campus and nonprofit partners.
Provide personalized, one-on-one support, training, and strategic consultation to campus and nonprofit partners.
Assist with the day-to-day operations and logistics of the different SLSV Coalition programs including Ask Every Student and Campus Takeover.
Coordinate the creation, centralization, distribution, and tracking of SLSV Coalition resources through the Resource Library in partnership with campus and nonprofit partners.
Facilitate ideation sessions for the Coalition, ensuring that partner/stakeholder perspectives are being centered in resource and strategy development.
Support SLSV Coalition Subcommittee co-chairs in goals related to resource development and training.
Design and upkeep Ask Every Student’s website on Squarespace.
Provide graphic design support as related to resources or information visualization, as capacity allows.
As needed, support the coordination of research opportunities through the Student Vote Research Network.

The SLSV team is dispersed across the county and works remotely. This position is fully remote but may require travel 2-4 times a year.
