<p><strong>Position Description:</strong></p>
<p>Ideal candidates are bright, creative, patient, motivated, articulate, compassionate and well-training professionals excited to work in a team environment to make a direct impact on young people’s lives through their focused efforts in three primary areas:</p>
<ol>
<li><strong>Direct Student Support:</strong> provide daily positive behavioral services and education to middle and high school student-athletes across three tiers of mental health and wellness (below); engage families, school partners and external agencies to create a comprehensive year-round plan to support children; track/monitor services and progress; and develop and navigate a network of local referral resources at appropriate agencies to assist students and families</li>
<li><strong>Employee Training &amp; Education:</strong> develop and deliver an employee education and training program to improve knowledge and awareness of best practices and methods to existing and future program staff in order to increase organizational identification, reach, impact and effectiveness in the above direct service areas.</li>
<li><strong>New Initiatives:</strong> serve as an organizational spokesperson to the community, external partners and funders; plan, design and implement new community programs in coordination with the Community team to foster mental health and wellness in the surrounding neighborhoods; promote and execute planned service events (grief, teen, etc.); and disseminate resources on topics of interest to families in our community.</li>

<p><strong>Director of Middle School Academics</strong><br />
The Director of Middle School Academics is a unique opportunity for a well-qualified man or woman with classroom management experience to join a team and to effectively guide young people from under resourced schools and communities. Primary responsibility is to engage and mentor students through our year‐round middle school education program. The individual will work in tandem with the Director of Middle School Squash &amp; Fitness to engage and instruct a cohort of 30 students per grade in 6th, 7th and 8th grade that are recruited from School District of Philadelphia (SDoP) partner schools in North Philadelphia’s Hunting Park. The individual will collaborate closely with the full program staff to ensure strong relations with all students, families, volunteers and partners; recruit new students annually; creatively design and deliver an intentional academic curriculum focusing on core skills; manage high school placement; and track student progress via the organization’s student metric and evaluation system.</p>
<p>Candidates should have strong speaking, writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills and hold a BA/BS or equivalent international degree. Spanish-speaking candidates will be given strong preference. Interdisciplinary skills or course work in education, childhood development, social work, education or psychology are a plus. Typical weekly hours of employment are (September-June) Monday through Thursday 10:00am-6:30pm and either Friday 12:00pm-6:00pm or Saturday 9:00am-3:00pm; and (July-August) Monday through Friday 9:00am-4:00pm. Additional events throughout the year will require participation beyond regular expected hours.</p>

<p>SquashSmarts seeks a dynamic Director of Development &amp; Events to focus on cultivating the relationships, funding and resources needed to take advantage of two extraordinary organizational growth opportunities: the expansion of current student programs at the Lenfest Center (LC) and the expansion/creation of new programs at the Arlen Specter US Squash Center (ASUSC), scheduled for opening in Fall 2020.</p>
<p>Specifically, the Director of Development &amp; Events will lead a targeted fund raising effort in collaboration with the Board of Directors, Development Committee, Executive Director and Community Impact Director. Specific goals will be to increase Operating and Sustainability funds to support the planned expansion of staff and community programs at the high school, middle school and elementary school levels across the city.</p>
<p>Ideal candidates will have strong ties to the Philadelphia community and can utilize existing, and cultivate new, relationships in the local market through in-person meetings to create philanthropic support. The Director of Development &amp; Events will serve as a member of the organization’s Senior Leadership team representing the organization’s interests in the planning, design and implementation of programs at the LC and ASUSC in coordination with a variety of community partners and stakeholders (e.g. US Squash, Lenfest Center, Drexel, etc).</p>
