<p>The Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning and the Mississippi Community College Board have partnered together to identify non-completers, categorize target groups, launch a website and comprehensive marketing plan, implement adult learner services, and re-engage adult students to help them complete their degrees through a state-wide initiative called “Complete 2 Compete.” This program is a partnership between the eight public universities, 15 community colleges, and one medical center in MS. This webinar will highlight the implementation and development of the program, as well as barriers identified, policy development, tracking and monitoring, and a system-wide policy for adult degree completion programs for the eight Mississippi public universities. Presenters will include a brief overview of data collection, grant funding sources, adult learner grants, best practices, and lessons learned.</p>
<p>Presenters<br />
Casey Prestwood, Assistant Commissioner for Policy &amp; Strategic Initiatives for the Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning in Mississippi, works closely with K-12, community college, university, and industry partners to support a seamless kindergarten through college to workforce educational system. Prestwood has served as the Associate Registrar and Director for Teacher Education Accreditation, specializing in student records, program implementations, assessment, and accreditation, at the University of Southern Mississippi.</p>
<p>Stephanie Bullock, Project Coordinator for Complete 2 Compete for the Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning in Mississippi, executes the state-wide initiative, Complete 2 Compete, and is charged with increasing education attainment, employment, and subsequent wage gains in Mississippi. Stephanie has served in higher education as an Undergraduate Recruiter, Re-Admissions Administrator, Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admissions at the University of Southern Mississippi &amp; Director of Undergraduate Admissions at Mississippi University for Women.</p>

The Director will ensure that these programs reflect the strategic direction and priorities of the organization and that this is manifested in the creation and implementation of plans for outreach, health education and promotion. He/she will work in consort with the Communications and Public Relations Manager in the development of health materials, messaging, and use of social media as well as the health center’s webpage in the conveyance of health information. The Director of Community Engagement must possess good communicative and writing skills, and have experience in grant writing.</p>
<p>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p>
<ul>
<li>Supports organizational leadership, goals, objectives and programs</li>
<li>Effectively leads, supervises and supports the managers and departments under his/her direction</li>
<li>Prioritizes outreach and health education/promotion efforts based upon organization’s strategy and priorities</li>
<li>Develops patient health education programs and materials based upon clinical goals and objectives established by SJFMC</li>
<li>Trains staff to provide health education individually and in group settings</li>
<li>Ensures outreach programs and staff are culturally proficient and representative of the patients and communities served by SJFMC</li>
<li>Coordinates outreach activities for multiple projects to create awareness,</li>
<li>Maintains functional and well-communicated schedules of outreach and health education activities that include presentations, health fairs, workshops, and direct and e-mailing or texting campaigns</li>
<li>Ensures projects meet organizational and grant expectations with respect to quality, budget, delivery timelines, and strategy;</li>
<li>Effectively and efficiently allocates and quantifies the use of Centers’ resources including staffing, facilities, travel allowances and time</li>
<li>In collaboration with CFO, forecasts requirements and manages budget(s);</li>
<li>Ensures the efficacious management of SJFMC equipment and supplies</li>
<li>Ensures that data requirements and program activity reports are met and reported in a timely manner and as required</li>
<li>Works as a cohesive member of the management team and communicates effectively across lines</li>
<li>Continually seeks opportunities to promote and fulfill the organization’s mission</li>
<li>Continually pursues new program and funding opportunities</li>
<li>Must travel, at times, across five counties to participate in program events and be available beyond regular work hours to manage activities</li>
<li>Other duties as assigned.</li>
</ul>
<p>POSITION REQUIREMENTS:</p>
<ul>
<li>Public speaking skills and the ability to represent the organization effectively</li>
<li>Ability to network effectively and build relationships with community, external and internal customers</li>
<li>Outstanding leadership and interpersonal skills</li>
<li>Strong interest in population health and low income, diverse populations</li>
<li>Knowledgeable about public health, disparate rates of health issues, and social determinants of health</li>
<li>Excellent verbal and written communications skills</li>
</ul>
<p>EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:</p>
<ul>
<li>Master’s degree or higher in a relevant field (Public Health, Health Education, or Nursing)</li>
<li>Experience and demonstrated success in grant writing and grants management</li>
