SEAMAAC has been working hard to improve the South 7th Street commercial corridor and the diverse small businesses that are the life blood of the corridor and community around it (7th Street generally South of Snyder Avenue to Porter Street). These businesses reflect a diverse and vibrant community that includes immigrants and refugees from across the globe (every business but one is owned by an immigrant).

In partnership with South 7th Street businesses, SEAMAAC has set up a Gift Certificate Program that is helping to get funds to the businesses now, when it most matters for their survival. We have 9 businesses signed up so far and will be adding more. They include really good authentic Cambodian, Honduran and Mexican restaurants along with other ethnic stores that you should plan to visit after the crisis or go to take out if they are currently open. We’ve now surpassed $10,000 in Certificates that go directly to the businesses.

Here is the link and more information: https://7thstreetshops.square.site/

And SEAMAAC is still sweetening the deal by using some funds we’ve raised to match customer Gift Certificate purchases by 50% (e.g., a $20 purchase will get you a $30 Certificate and $30 quickly to the business). This is a great way to get to know some of the stores on South 7th Street and support their survival through this tough time.
