<p>Playworks Pennsylvania has  a strong reputation, deep community relationships, long standing school and district partnerships and strong brand recognition. In the current school year, Playworks PA is projected to reach students in nearly 175 regional elementary schools, with a budget of approximately $2.5 million and a staff of approximately 20. We work across Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey, and also serve Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and DC.</p>
<p><strong>ABOUT THE POSITION: </strong>the Executive Director in Pennsylvania is the leader of local regional operations and team members. Reporting to the HUB Vice President &#8211; who oversees the operations in Michigan, New York/New Jersey, Pennsylvania and the Southeast &#8211; the Executive Director is responsible for the region’s financial success and strategic impact. You will work closely with the Regional Partnerships Director and Program Director in the region and the regional board.</p>

<p><strong>ABOUT THE POSITION, </strong>as the Program Director of Playworks Pennsylvania, you will report to the Regional Director and lead the planning and implementation of Playworks’ comprehensive school-based play and youth development programming. In this position, you are responsible for managing the recruitment, staffing, performance, training and development of all program staff and/or AmeriCorps Members, partnerships with schools and districts, grant compliance and evaluation, and initiatives that drive regional scaling and sustainability. You will be part of the regional leadership team, providing leadership that focuses on Playworks&#8217; three pillars of regional success: sustainable financials, sustainable impact and sustainable teams. Specifically you will:</p>
<ul>
<li>Lead regional impact strategy, along with Regional Director and Partnership Experience Director, that aligns with organizational goals of increasing schools’ ownership over safe and healthy play and ultimately creating long-term systems change in public education</li>
<li>Direct all elements of Playworks direct service programming, including planning, implementation, training, evaluation and program quality, with a lens for moving schools to independence from Playworks</li>
<li>Develop and manage a robust recruitment, hiring and retention plan for all regional program positions with an emphasis on diversity, equity and inclusion</li>
<li>Provide leadership and management for Program Managers, including their onboarding and ongoing learning and development and performance management</li>
<li>Provide ongoing leadership, support and coaching to program team to ensure high program quality and strong school partnerships;</li>
<li>Jointly develop and implement a strategic sustainability plan as a member of the regional Leadership Team</li>
<li>Work with the Partnership Experience Director to recruit, retain and grow school partnerships at both the school and district level</li>
<li>Administrative duties such as drafting school direct service partnership contracts and RFP responses that meet both Playworks and partner requirements, maintaining school partnership files in Salesforce and on Google Drive, tracking and reporting on school fee collection to the Regional Director, serving as the main point of contact for school fees and school accounts payable, and other related tasks</li>
<li>Manage regional volunteer strategy, funder/grant compliance &#8211; including oversight of AmeriCorps programming- and annual assessments, evaluation and data collection processes to ensure compliance and timely completion</li>
<li>Monitor program budget and accounting for program expenditures in collaboration with the Regional Director;</li>
<li>Represent Playworks at regional events, district meetings and local partnership coalitions</li>
<li>Work closely with the headquarters team and other regional Program Directors throughout the country to share best practices and promote learning.</li>

The livestreams will be recorded, so kids who miss it can access it later. All activities will use minimal or simple equipment that kids can find at home, and will adhere to CDC guidelines around social distancing and reducing physical contact. <p>Here’s where you come in:</p>
<p>As a Program Coordinator or &#8220;Coach&#8221; you will bring healthy play and physical activity to elementary schools to create a positive environment for learning and teaching. In this position, you are trained and placed at a school to run Playworks&#8217; physical activity program focused on teaching and organizing safe and inclusive games before, during and after school. You teach conflict resolution strategies, inspire all children to get off the sidelines and into the game and work to generate more community and family involvement.</p>
<p><strong>Specifically you will have Program, Administrative, and School Partnership Duties as follows-</strong></p>
<p><strong>Program Duties:</strong></p>
<p>Plan and implement sports and play based programming during recess, in school and after school hours at a public elementary school:</p>
<ul>
<li>Recess &#8211; Create a safe, fun, and inclusive playground by developing and modelling standard agreements for behavior and conflict resolution skills, teaching kids and recess support staff the rules and strategies of the games, and recruiting disengaged students to participate.</li>
<li>Junior Coach Leadership Program &#8211; Implement a youth leadership program by facilitating student trainings and providing student leadership opportunities at recess. Junior Coaches are a mix of 4th through 6th grade students who participate in regular trainings that focus on teaching valuable skills like leadership, conflict resolution, inclusion and community action, successfully improving their self-esteem, self advocacy, leadership ability, and desire to improve academically.</li>
<li>Class Game Time &#8211; Lead instructional time with individual classes throughout the year. During this time, the coach teaches foundational skills and activities that will prepare students so they can confidently engage in and enjoy recess.</li>
<li>Interscholastic Leagues &#8211; Lead non-competitive teams designed to develop skills, provide a positive team experience, and teach good sporting behavior to students.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Administrative Duties:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Maintain communication between Playworks staff, school staff, teachers, families, and volunteers.</li>
<li>Collect and maintain paperwork including organizing daily, weekly, and monthly schedules and timesheets.</li>

<p>Here’s where you come in:</p>
<p>In the role of Engagement Specialist, you will assist with the oversight and coordination of Playworks’ administrative and capacity building functions. This position is a key resource in advancing Playworks’ goals and will work with Playworks staff and AmeriCorps Members as well as with external partners, donors, and volunteers to create and grow a sustainable and well-organized community-based organization.</p>
<p>Responsibilities, including but not limited to:</p>
<p>Office Management</p>
<ul>
<li>General office management (answering phones, mail distribution, supplies inventory, office upkeep).</li>
<li>Support the region’s operational needs and liaise with headquarters operations team.</li>
<li>Serve as the technology liaison between the local office and national team.</li>
<li>Reconcile and submit receipts, deposit checks, prepare expense reports on behalf of Executive Director and other Senior Directors on timely basis.</li>
</ul>
<p>Personnel/HR</p>
<ul>
<li>Facilitate the hiring process for all staff and members ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed; including the initiation of background checks for all new hires in accordance with state and federal regulations.</li>
<li>Maintain employee files and database to ensure proper certifications and documentation for all regional staff and members are current and on file.</li>
<li>Support and manage various aspects of recruiting process (contacting local recruitment sources such as colleges and universities, posting open positions on various online/print sources, coordinate interviews, and manage recruiting database).</li>
<li>Collaborate with National People Team on HR/personnel related activities and communication such as benefits, background checks, onboarding, offboarding, etc.</li>
</ul>
<p>AmeriCorps Compliance</p>
<ul>
<li>Distribute, collect, and maintain personnel documentation to ensure AmeriCorps (AC) member eligibility.</li>

<p>AmeriCorps is a national community service program where people commit to serve with an organization. Nationwide, AmeriCorps members, commit to either a part-time or full-time position. Our Playworks Corps Member position is a full-time role bringing healthy play and physical activity to primarily urban and low-income schools to create a positive environment for learning and teaching. Members are provided with extensive training and placed in an elementary school to work alongside teachers and school administrators to implement our on-site Playworks program. Members also generate community and family involvement in their school community by recruiting and supporting volunteers and facilitating community engagement activities.</p>
<p>Members commit to serving a full school year of at least 1700 hours. This position typically requires more than 40 hours per week and includes night and weekend sports league and community engagement activities. Members typically start service in August.</p>

<p>Program Duties:</p>
<p>Plan and implement play based programming during recess, in school and after school hours at a public elementary school through:</p>
<ul>
<li>Recess &#8211; create a safe and inclusive playground, be a significant presence on the playground by organizing and playing large games with 20+ students and be a role model.</li>
<li>Junior Coach Program – implement a youth leadership program by providing student leadership opportunities at recess and facilitating trainings for students before or after school</li>
<li>Class Game Time &#8211; lead individual classes in skills building, cooperative games, and activities to increase awareness of rules and boundaries at recess</li>
<li>Interscholastic leagues &#8211; recruit and coach students for developmental sports leagues</li>
<li>Community Engagement Events &#8211; design and implement one or two service projects during the year that engage students’ families at the school site</li>
<li>Volunteer Recruitment &#8211; recruit and coordinate volunteers to build a strong school community that supports positive, inclusive play</li>
