The Americans in Struggle film series is a program sponsored by the Philadelphia Unemployment Project and other groups that uses films and documentaries to call attention to the fight for social justice both contemporary and historical, here and across the globe.

The series sponsors are inviting advocacy organizations and nonprofits to participate in this unique program by selecting a film for this fall’s program.

The screenings take place at Community College on a weeknight evening and are free and open to the public. Immediately after the screening a discussion takes place focusing on the topic of the video with opportunities for action (post cards, petitions, etc) and awareness on the issue the organization cares about.

Last year participating organizations included several unions, the Coalition of Labor Union Women, Unitarian Universalist Church of the Restoration, Coalition of Black Trade Unionists, Philadelphia NAACP, Philadelphia NOW, Fight for Philly, Philaposh, AFL-CIO and United Way Community Services, and Philadelphia Jobs with Justice.
