Get Involved in Philly’s Urban Agriculture Plan!
From: Ashley Mang, West Philadelphia Promise Zone Team

Philadelphia’s first Urban Agriculture Plan — Growing from the Root — is in the works and wants your input! A collaborative effort of Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, Soil Generation, and Interface Studios, the Urban Ag Plan is soliciting input from growers and gardeners, community advocates, City agencies, partner organizations, and others who care about the future of urban agriculture in Philadelphia. Attendance far exceeded expectations at their first public meeting, held at Parkway Central Library in December, and is already helping to inform the plan.

Growing from the Root hopes to continue the rich conversation with their second public meeting formatted as two identical drop-in style events (stay as little or as long as you’d like!). Discussions will focus on access to land, animal keeping, farming careers and businesses, resources for community gardens, youth and education, climate readiness and agroecology, and ways that the City can support urban agriculture.

Choose between two identical open house meetings:

NORTH PHILLY: Thursday, March 19, 2020 — 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Lillian Marrero Library, 601 West Lehigh Ave, on-street parking with very limited accessible off-street parking available for folks with disabilities

SOUTHWEST: Tuesday, March 24, 2020 — 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Ezekiel Baptist Church, 5701 Grays Avenue, off-street parking available

RSVP here for either meeting: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/philadelphias-urban-agriculture-plan-growing-from-the-root-public-mtg-2-registration-95444578303
