We’re proud to collaborate with Knowledge Works and the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network Global Schools Program to make this event truly impactful.

Why Attend?

Sustainability is a growing focus in K-12 education, especially in Pennsylvania where the new STEELS standards coming online in 2025 require teaching about sustainability for the first time and where many schools are focusing on more sustainable and efficient operations. This two-day summit is a unique opportunity for K-12 education leaders and the Penn State community to come together and forge new pathways toward a sustainable future. Through engaging design-thinking workshops, a field trip touring sustainability partners at Penn State, and networking with other educators you’ll explore the specific sustainability needs of your school and discover how partnerships with Penn State can help support and amplify your efforts. School districts that participate will be invited to participate in an ongoing online Community of Practice starting after the summit.

]]> Research Support/Interviewer Supervisor https://phennd.org/update/research-support-interviewer-supervisor/ Mon, 22 Apr 2019 21:33:06 +0000 https://phennd.org/?post_type=update&p=61528 Penn State will be conducting door to door surveys in neighborhoods around the Rail Park and East Parkside and Cobb’s Creek spring 2019 and will be hiring a resident to supervise in each location. The surveys will give residents a chance to share their experiences and priorities about facilities, programs, and civic engagement. Candidates must be at least 18 years old, and be available to attend mandatory in-person training at a site near the neighborhoods mentioned. Minimum requirements for the position are: be available to work a minimum of 10 to 15 hours per week, with mostly afternoon, evening, and weekend hours, when work is available; be able to organize and supervise field interviewers to collect data door to door, and be available to answer questions from field interviewers and address issues as they arise; be able to keep detailed records of all work activities and ability to complete administrative tasks on time and accurately to be submitted to the project manager; be able to work independently; have strong reading and verbal skills; have regular and reliable access to cellular phone service; be able to communicate with people from all walks of life and socio-economic groups; have excellent computer skills (be able to access and browse the Internet, use the keyboard, send/receive email) and assist field interviewers with technology issues; be capable of establishing and maintaining a good rapport with interviewers, resident survey participants and research team; be available to fill in for interviewers if necessary; and be able to meet the physical requirements of the position with reasonable accommodation. This includes the ability to lift and carry 10 – 15 pounds of equipment and materials, walk two blocks at a time, and climb a flight of stairs while carrying equipment.
