On February 12, 2020, New Century Trust co-hosted a release event for the PA Self-Sufficiency Standard along with grantees Pathways PA, who commissioned the report. The Standard measures what it costs to meet the basic needs of families, based on family size, location, and composition. The release event brought together philanthropy, local government, and non-profit leaders to discuss the Overlooked and Undercounted Report, based on the findings from the latest Standard. For more information about the standard, visit the Pathways PA website. The latest update to the standard was funded by New Century Trust and the Women and Girls Foundation in Pittsburgh.

Volunteer Tax Preparers needed

Help low-income individuals and families move out of poverty by assisting them in maximizing their income tax refund. For many low-income filers their tax refund is their single largest source of income during the year.

We are recruiting volunteers to assist in low-income tax filers in completing their tax returns. By volunteering only 3-4 hours a week during tax season, you alone can return over $30,000 to local working families! PathWays PA is looking for volunteers during the day, afternoons, evenings or Saturdays. No tax experience is required; free IRS-certified tax training is provided.

Manager of Workforce Development, PathWays PA

PathWays PA is currently hiring a full time Program Manager to oversee multiple workforce development initiatives in Southeastern PA. The Manager of Workforce Development will work closely with the Vice President of Workforce Development and Self Sufficiency to implement programs that help adult clients develop the skills and credentials necessary to secure and sustain employment and/or advance in their careers. This position will assist with all aspects of program management including: program design, implementation, evaluation, data collection, instructor recruitment, participant success and funder satisfaction. He/she must possess excellent communication, strong computer skills including advanced knowledge of Excel and other project tracking applications; strong organizational skills. Knowledge of healthcare industry, healthcare certification programs, adult education, and /or Veterans issues a plus. Bachelor’s Degree and relevant work experience required. May 25-29 All veterans and active service members will receive 20% DISCOUNT on food at all Barnaby locations

From Sunday, May 25 until May 29, Barnaby’s of America locations are celebrating Memorial Day by offering a 20% discount on food purchases for active and veteran military with valid ID.

This discount is offered by Barnaby’s in conjunction with PathWays PA’s HeroesPath program. HeroesPath offers veterans in Southeastern Pennsylvania one-stop access to a full range of services, opportunities, programs and supports for a successful transition from military service to civilian employment and family life.

Through HeroesPath, veterans can connect with a Veterans Navigator, who can provide comprehensive access to training, resources and services required for a healthy transition to civilian lifestyles. Navigators meet with veterans individually and in small groups to help veterans identify and achieve personal and career goals.
