<p>The council invites applications for its classroom research grant preK-6. Through the program, grants of up to $6,000 will be awarded to support classroom-based research in precollege mathematics education in collaboration with college or university mathematics educators. The research must be a collaborative effort involving a college or university mathematics educator (a mathematics education researcher or a teacher of mathematics learning, teaching, or curriculum) and one or more grades preK-6 classroom teachers. The proposal may include but is not restricted to research on the following topics: curriculum development and implementation, involvement of at-risk students or students from diverse backgrounds and experiences, students thinking about a particular mathematics concept or set of concepts, the connection of mathematics to other disciplines, focused learning and teaching of mathematics with embedded use of technology, and innovative assessment or evaluation strategies.</p>

<p>To advance this mission, NCTM awards grants to increase understanding and expertise in fostering support of multi-language development in the teaching of mathematics in pre-k-12 schools. Grants of up to $4,000 will be awarded to cover the cost of honoraria and expenses for consultants, materials, substitute time during the school day, teacher stipends after the school day, and/or conference or workshop registrations.</p>
<p>The proposed project must explicitly support the implementation of equitable and rigorous mathematics instruction that incorporates student languages and cultures in the teaching of math. The proposed project should specifically address the development of classroom materials with a consultant who has expertise in both the teaching of math and the teaching of language, and/or the purchase of materials for use in implementing professional learning toward the above stated goal. (Funds may not be used for staff travel or equipment.)</p>
<p>To be eligible, applicant schools must have at least one current NCTM member and one current TODOS member who teaches at the school.</p>

<p>The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial support to college or university students preparing to teach middle school mathematics. For 2019-20, one scholarship with a maximum value of $3,000 will be awarded to a person currently completing his/her junior year of college or university and pursuing a career goal of becoming a certified teacher of middle school mathematics.</p>
<p>Scholarship funds can be applied to tuition, fees, course materials, and other expenses directly related to the recipient’s academic program of study. Any acquisition of equipment must support the applicant&#8217;s plan of study but not require more than 10 percent, or $300, of the entire scholarship.</p>

<p>The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics is accepting applications from teachers of pre-K-5 mathematics for projects that incorporate music into the classroom as a way to help young students learn math.</p>
<p>Grants of up to $3,000 will be awarded to individual elementary classroom teachers or small groups of teachers collaborating in one grade or across grades. Any acquisition of equipment must support the proposed plan but not be the primary focus of the grant. Proposals must address the combining of math and music, a plan for improving students&#8217; learning of math, and/or the anticipated impact on students&#8217; achievement.</p>

<p>To that end, NCTM is accepting application for its Emerging Teacher-Leaders in Elementary School Mathematics Teachers grant program, which aims to increase the breadth and depth of the mathematics content knowledge of elementary school teachers with a demonstrated commitment to mathematics teaching and learning.</p>
<p>For the 2019-20 school year, grants of up to $6,000 will be awarded, with only one teacher per school eligible to receive the award. Grantees will be expected to provide ongoing professional development to teachers within their school or district to strengthen their own mathematical understanding and instructional practices. This must include sustained in-service programs focused on improving the content knowledge of the elementary teachers within the school or district and working with teachers in their classrooms through demonstration teaching or co-teaching.</p>
<p>To be eligible, applicants must be a current NCTM member; be a classroom (elementary school) teacher with at least three years of experience; and have mathematics as a regular teaching responsibility. In addition, applicants must have the support of the school principal in becoming a mathematics teacher-leader within his or her school or district.</p>

<p>The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics supports teachers with the aim of ensuring equitable mathematics learning of the highest quality for all students.</p>
<p>To that end, NCTM is accepting proposals for its Pre-K-6 Classroom Research Grants program, which supports classroom-based research in pre-college mathematics education in collaboration with college or university mathematics educators.</p>
<p>Grants of up to $6,000 will be awarded to mathematics educators or classroom teachers currently teaching mathematics at the pre-K–6 level. The research must be a significant collaborative effort involving a college or university mathematics educator (a mathematics education researcher or a teacher of mathematics learning, teaching, or curriculum) and one or more pre-K–6 classroom teachers. The proposal may include but is not restricted to research related to curriculum development and implementation; involvement of at-risk or minority students; students&#8217; thinking about a particular mathematics concept or set of concepts; connection of mathematics to other disciplines; focused learning and teaching of mathematics with embedded use of technology (any acquisition of equipment must support the proposed plan but not be the primary focus of the grant); and/or innovative assessment or evaluation strategies.</p>
<p>Involvement of preservice teachers is encouraged but not required. The research should lead to a draft article suitable for submission in the Mathematics Teacher Educator, Journal for Research in Mathematics Education, or in one of the other NCTM school journals. In addition, proposals must address the following: research design, the plan for collecting and analyzing data, and the anticipated impact on student learning.</p>
<p>To be eligible, applicants must be a current NCTM member (on or before October 15, 2016) or teach at a school having current NCTM pre-K-8 school membership. The college or university mathematics educator also must be a member of NCTM.</p>
