<p>About the Position:<br />
The Education Manager will support the execution of our strategic plan and manage all of our educational partnerships, including, but not limited to neighborhood schools, out-of-school time programs, and education-focused community organizations. This role is part liaison, part advocate, and part relationship manager with a strong emphasis on engagement and project management. The Manager will work closely with educational leaders in the environment to increase access to resources, ensure services are community-informed, and connect with families to strengthen their involvement in educating the community’s youth. The Manager will also contribute expertise in<br />
trauma-informed practices and services, and be a reliable, supportive collaborator who supports both the theoretical and practical applications of trauma-informed care.</p>
<p>Working closely with and reporting to the Director of Community Partnerships &amp; Strategy, the Education Manager will coordinate and lead the collaborative effort to transform Bethune Elementary School, acting as project manager, researcher, family engagement liaison, and North10 representative to the school’s Transformation Committee. The Manager will work closely with The Lenfest Center leadership as project manager, supporting the transformation and growth of The Lenfest Center, and will provide support, as needed, with family and community engagement. The Manager will also provide support to North10 leadership on special projects, coordinating community outreach efforts, and communication of educational programming and development to North10 partners and their constituents.</p>
<p>More Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:<br />
• Coordinate and convene the Bethune Elementary School’s Transformation committee’s monthly meetings, while serving as representative of North10.<br />
• Consult with Lenfest Center leadership regarding program development, with the goal being to increase use of available neighborhood resources by Lenfest Center families and increase community and stakeholder access to Lenfest Center programming.<br />
• Collect, capture, and present qualitative and quantitative data on the Bethune Elementary and Lenfest Center catchment area.<br />
• Visit representatives at local schools to cultivate relationships, discuss improvement of programming, and build information gathering and data sharing systems in support of North10 mission<br />
• Support research efforts to facilitate access to high quality early childhood providers and adult learning opportunities.<br />
• Coordinate outreach efforts that will engage residents in making choices that have positive impact on their community<br />
• Systematize avenues of communication between North10 stakeholders and partners<br />
• Support North10 leadership in the development and initial implementation of a three-year strategy for North10, Philadelphia<br />
• Support logistics and preparation for North10 meetings with partners and stakeholders (i.e. leaders of local community-based organizations, faith leaders, community activists, and law enforcement) to discuss improvement strategies for prominent commercial corridors, development plans for newly acquired properties, and securing access to affordable housing<br />
• Occasionally represent North10 at conferences and meetings when Director of Community Partnerships &amp; Strategy or Executive Director are unavailable and/or when the events are relevant to the direct work of the Manager</p>
<p>Sample Day Might Look Like:<br />
• Meet with Bethune Elementary Transformation Committee on site at the school<br />
• Update websites and social media to advertise fall registration dates<br />
• Meet with Lenfest program team members to discuss recruitment strategies for Lenfest Center spring registration<br />
• Meet with a representative from an area school to discuss opportunities at The Lenfest Center<br />
• Set up meeting with Director with three community partners to discuss a recently proposed affordable housing project proposal<br />
• Research information to support the grant proposal writing for North10 or a North10 partner in need of assistance<br />
• Help Director and CEO prepare for upcoming stakeholder meeting</p>
<p>Ideal Candidates:<br />
• Deeply believe in the mission and vision of North10, Philadelphia, demonstrated by prior experience working in neighborhoods with high poverty and other systemic barriers to success<br />
• Have at least five years of experience working in schools, after-school programs, or other educational centers and settings, ideally as a counselor, program manager, or similar work.<br />
• Bring passion and excitement about working on the ground and in partnership with the local community to revitalize the Hunting Park and East Tioga, ideally through a meaningful connection to or experience with North Philadelphia or similar neighborhoods<br />
• Thrive in and are able to execute in a “startup”, entrepreneurial-like environment characterized by ambiguity and not having a road map<br />
• Demonstrate strength in community engagement, relationship building or managing community partnerships; ideally in communities like ours<br />
• Have direct experience working within trauma-informed organizations and institutions, upholding their core values and practices<br />
• Have at least a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Education, Urban Studies, Social Work, Community Organizing, Adolescent Psychology, Public Health or related areas; Master’s preferred (MSW, MPH, etc).<br />
• Demonstrate the ability to network and authentically engage a wide variety of stakeholders, from parents to school administrators to community leaders<br />
• Demonstrate outstanding organization and project management skills<br />
• Demonstrate outstanding written and oral communication skills<br />
• Demonstrate proficiency in computer technology, including MS Office, web design via WordPress, and social media use and engagement<br />

<p>The Lenfest Center has reimaged its role as an Out-of-School-Time provider. At the core of this work is a commitment to build a diverse cohort of programs that provide year-round, learning experiences which allow participants to build confidence through Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM) enrichment programming, College or Career Readiness instruction, in additional to the already robust athletics offerings.</p>
<p>We now offer a more diverse and comprehensive set of programs serving K through 12th graders, with specific partnership with leadership, faculty, and students from the Mary McLeod Bethune School (K-8), Alexander K. McClure School (PreK-5) and Baryard Taylor (K-5). All of our programs are safe, structured, and fun.</p>
<p>Mission: Through academic, athletic, and enrichment programming and community partnerships, the Lenfest Center will foster the educational, physical, and social-emotional health and growth of community members, school-aged scholars, and their families in Hunting Park, thereby supporting current and future generations to thrive and live happy, healthy lives.</p>
<p>Vision: By 2028, the Lenfest Center will be a state-of-the-art urban community center that hosts and provides high-quality, trauma-informed, community-focused programming and resources for at least 25 percent of all school-aged scholars and their families in the surrounding community. Functioning as a vibrant hub that facilitates neighborhood engagement, advocacy, culturally relevant education, and improved community health outcomes the Lenfest Center will serve as a transformative model from which all can learn.</p>
<p>About the position:<br />
We are currently seeking a dynamic, passionate, committed, and experienced OST Program Manager who will oversee coordination of our programming for youth K-12. Reporting to the Chief Programming Officer, the OST Program Manager will provide direct supervision for all Out of School Time, K-12, programs at the Lenfest Center.</p>
<p>Key Job Responsibilities:<br />
• Manage and support the Program Coordinator who is responsible for daily operations of programming<br />
• Manage process for student enrollment<br />
• Play a lead role in the informal and formal observations &amp; evaluations of all OST programming for quality<br />
• Actively build, maintain and champion The Lenfest Center’s culture and climate<br />
• Assist with special event planning<br />
• Assist in coordinating programming schedule<br />
• Identify and cultivate new program opportunities and partnerships<br />
• Serve as primary point of correspondence and coordination with program partners<br />
• Actively build relationships with scholars and their families<br />
• Serve in a “Dean of Culture”-like capacity, managing and tracking student behavior &amp; supporting others in the management of behavior</p>
<p>A sample day might look like:<br />
• Greet scholars as the enter the center, ensuring smooth transition into OST program schedule<br />
• Supervise and support Lenfest Youth Leaders (high school students who volunteer as program assistants)<br />
• Observe a classroom in the OST program, assessing level of quality and alignment to Lenfest’s expectations for Center culture and program partner standards<br />
• Participate in a leadership meeting with other senior managers in the organization<br />
• Meet with Chief Program Officer to review programming standards and discuss the outcomes of recent evaluation of programming as conducted by program assistants<br />
• Submit a weekly report on attendance, incidents, and expenditures to the Chief Programming Officer and Director of Operations<br />
• Engage with parent committee around concerns, follow ups, and updates<br />
• Orient a program partner in Center’s mission, vision, procedures, expectations, and community<br />
• Outreach to a parent to discuss student’s attendance or performance</p>
<p>Other responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:<br />
• Participating in continuing educational opportunities for personal growth and development<br />
• Assisting the Chief Program Officer with the development of an professional development for program team<br />
• Ensuring education programs meet the accreditation standards or other compliance requirements<br />
• Ensuring quality control in execution of documentation for all certified activities, trips, incident reports, and daily attendance<br />
• Managing and ensuring program compliance of the daily attendance for all programs<br />
• Ensuring the execution of regularly scheduled parent meetings in order to address the needs of the families<br />
• Assisting with recommendations of disciplinary actions up to and including dismissal<br />
• Participating in supervisory and administrative staff meetings<br />
• Completing supervision notes, plans, and performance evaluations consistently</p>
<p>Ideal Candidates:<br />

<p>About The Opportunity:<br />
Serving as an integral member of the Center’s leadership team, the Director of Operations &amp; Facilities will ensure the Center has all of the systems, data and procedures to operate at a an optimal level and best meet the needs of the community. The Director of Operations &amp; Facilities will help build a professional center culture, that values excellence and respects operational efficiency.</p>
<p>The Director of Operations &amp; Facilities reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and manages a large team of full time and part time facilities, security and service team members.</p>

● Collaborate with the Chief Program Officer and program team to create efficient partner payment and tracking system with appropriate checks and balances<br />
● Through management of a team of facilities managers, security and other service team members, ensure building is clean, safe and maintained at standards of excellence<br />
● Work alongside Chief Executive Officer &amp; Chief Program Officer to develop and implement the center’s five year strategic plan<br />
● Liaise and collaborate with community centers city wide to thought partner on delivering the best services for youth and families<br />

3890 N. 10th Street, Inc., a nonprofit organization, is committed to improving the overall quality of life in the Hunting Park and East Tioga communities of North Philadelphia. This mission has grown out of a decade of work and commitment from the H. Chase Lenfest Foundation to provide structured and innovated enrichment and athletic programming for youth at the Lenfest Center. Built in 2007, the Lenfest Center has housed varying programs from the Police Athletic League to SquashSmarts to Lenfest’s own enrichment programming. Under the umbrella of 3890 N. 10th Street, Inc., leadership now aims to expand our impact to develop and implement a “place-based” community change strategy. Our mission is to collaborate with the local community to improve life outcomes for residents of Hunting Park and East Tioga. We use a holistic, integrated, sustainable approach to support a vibrant neighborhood where current and future generations can live happy, healthy, and civically engaged lives.</p>

<p>POSITION DESCRIPTION<br />
Summary<br />
The Chief Program Officer (CPO)/ Center Director will be the primary leader of the Lenfest Center and lead 3890 N. 10th Street, Inc.’s strategic implementation of youth learning and development programs, with an eye toward developing programming for residents of all ages. The CPO/ Center Director is tasked with building and supporting responsive and innovative educational programs necessary to support the full scope of work in fulfilling the organization’s commitment to Hunting Park and East Tioga.</p>
<p>The CPO/ Center Director will serve as the primary learning leader of the Lenfest Center as well as a founding member of 3890 N. 10th Street, Inc.’s executive leadership team. In collaboration with the CEO, the CPO will: vision, articulate, and oversee a diverse portfolio of programs; evaluate the effectiveness of programs to provide ongoing feedback and reporting to the Board of Directors; provide  mentoring, supervision, and professional development to program staff; and enhance the organization by staying abreast of developments in the youth development and formal and informal education sector. The Chief Program Officer/ Center Director will report to the Chief Executive Officer.</p>
<p>Major Responsibilities<br />
The key elements and primary responsibilities of this role follow, though are by no means exhaustive, given the entrepreneurial nature of this position:</p>
<p>LEADERSHIP, STAFF MANAGEMENT AND ORGANIZATIONAL STRATEGY<br />
• Directly supervise program managers and coordinators of the Lenfest Community Center; working closely with senior program staff to build their skills and confidence so that they can mentor, encourage, and motivate other staff<br />
• Create and support a high performing culture in the Lenfest Community Center. Develop a team-based environment to motivate and inspire staff to work collaboratively toward vision and goals. Coordinate with the CEO to identify and create leadership and professional development opportunities<br />
• Determine staffing plans to achieve program goals and objectives and hire new program staff<br />
• Initially assume responsibility for facility management and, in collaboration with CEO, develop long-term facilities management staffing plan<br />
• Participate in the budget development process, contribute to fundraising efforts, and maintain a high level of fiscal responsibility<br />
• In collaboration with the CEO and executive team, play a key role in the overall development, strategic planning, service delivery, and management of the organization’s programs at the Lenfest Center and across multiple sites, in support of 3890’s commitment to forming a high-quality cradle-to-career educational pipeline<br />
• Represent 3890 N. 10th Street, Inc. and CEO, on relevant neighborhood, city, and state committees and task forces, as well as at speaking engagements, conference panels, and trainings</p>
<p>PROGRAM OVERSIGHT AND EVALUATION<br />
• Oversee the coordination, integration, and delivery of all programs within the Lenfest Community Center, including contracts and related services, promoting collaborative relationships between program areas and ensuring that the expectations of partners, constituents, clients, and other stakeholders are consistently met<br />
• Work closely with the CEO to budget and monitor programmatic operations to ensure sound fiscal and system management<br />
• Ensure the delivery of qualitative and quantitative goals and outcomes of programs and services. Collect, coordinate, and analyze the appropriate data to inform the programmatic and operational decision-making process<br />
• Deepen existing and create new performance and outcome measures for outreach and recruitment, completion rates, employment, retention, college, training, enrollment, completion, and other measures that are core to 3890 N. 10th Street, Inc.’s mission</p>
<p>Qualifications</p>
<p>EXPERIENCE<br />
• A minimum of five years’ leadership experience in an education and/ or youth development organization, overseeing multiple programs or contracts, ideally at an organization serving low-income youth and communities<br />
• Demonstrated ability to grow and effectively manage a team to sustained high performance<br />
• Envisioned, articulated, and brought to life an innovative, personalized learning experience for groups of children or youth<br />
• Experience with competency-based and / or project-based learning environments<br />
• Lived and/or professional experience in North Philadelphia is highly desirable<br />
• Ability to speak Spanish preferred<br />
• Comprehensive working knowledge of program planning, organizational structure, budgeting, and administrative operations<br />
• A Bachelor’s degree and a graduate degree in a relevant field and/or 10 to 15 years’ experience in the field</p>

The center’s mission is to improve the mental, physical and social health of local youth by offering structured, high quality, academic and recreational programs. <p>Recreation Coordinator: This is a unique opportunity for a highly qualified individual to assist in the implementation of innovative out-of-school programs for youths ages 6-18. The Recreation Coordinator will support the Program Director and Education Director in coordinating a year-round educational and recreational curriculum, with a focus on leading games, activities, and sports leagues. Candidates must have experience working with youth, must be comfortable interacting with youth of all ages and backgrounds, and must be passionate about creating an environment in which young people can reach their potential.</p>
<p>Specific Responsibilities Include:<br />
• Provide support to Program and Education Directors in all aspects of their jobs.<br />
• Provide specific support to Program Director in planning and supervising of recreational activities for students in grades K-8 in our after-school program, and help create and run additional recreational activities for youth not enrolled in the after-school program.<br />
• Lead and teach games in a gym setting.<br />
• Assist in recruiting and supervising volunteers.<br />
• Role model positive behavior at all times to the youth and their families in the center.</p>
<p>Additional Requirements:<br />
1. Must be willing to work 15-20 hours a week.<br />
2. Must be self-motivated and able to work in a fluid environment with different projects and challenges arising daily.<br />
3. Must be comfortable working in both collaborative and individual settings.<br />
4. Must pass a criminal background screening and hold a valid driver’s license.<br />
5. Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and some weekends and holidays.<br />
