Your budget is your financial plan, and the outline of how your mission and objectives will be carried out, guiding your organization’s operations and key decision-making. This essential class will demonstrate the components and qualities of an effective budget, the budgeting process, budgeting best practices and projecting cash flow.

Starting with a brief overview of financial statements, you’ll learn how to read the story they tell and review basic financial terms and different types of financial systems. After these core concepts are reviewed, the class will consider a systematic approach to constructing a budget for a program or organization.

In addition to learning how to create a budget, this class will include strategies for monitoring actual income and expenses and comparing them to the budget so that you’re able to make important management decisions in real time, and be able to project where you will end up, based on good data.

Learn about how cash flow statements can be used to monitor and project potential cash shortfalls so you are able to adjust and plan accordingly, as well as methods of allocating shared costs and explain how to incorporate that into your budget.

With a deeper understanding of all the components of your budget, including those demonized administrative and overhead expenses, you’ll be in a better position to make the case for being worthy of support from potential and current donors and other stakeholders.

When: February 28, 2019, 9 am to noon

Where: Montgomery, McCracken, 1735 Market Street, Phila.

La Salle University’s Summer 2018 Program Theme:
Power Up: Health is Your Wealth
La Salle University is hosting an exciting summer program for students that will explore several disciplines, including mathematics and science (Prek-5) and integrated content areas (6-8). Students engage in active, hands-on learning connected to real-life roles (scientist, geographer, world traveler, etc.). The major goal of our program is to have all students learn by building upon previous experiences at home and school under the guidance of our teachers and staff.

Our Enrichment Program
La Salle offers the opportunity for any student between the ages of 4 and 14, as of June 1, 2018 to enroll in our Prek – Grade 9 summer Enrichment program, regardless of ability level. In our fully inclusive classrooms, teachers are prepared to differentiate instruction to maximize each child’s learning and success. All programs motivate students to want to learn through hands-on, indoor and outdoor activities using evidence-based practices. Students take on roles as scientists, explorers, curators and the like to investigate the theme of the program based on appropriate district curriculum standards and content area specialties of the upper grades teachers. Eligible age groups for this program include students ages 4 to 14 (children under four years of age, or older than fourteen as of June 1, 2018 may not enroll in this program). There was a wait list last summer so do not delay! Enrollment is limited to 120 students.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Location: The LaSalle summer program will be held at the Hatboro/Horsham High School – H-Wing. The school
address is 899 Horsham Road Horsham, PA 19044. In order to access the H-Wing, families should drive around to the back of the school to the H-Wing entrance.

Dates/Times:
The program runs from Monday, July 2nd to Friday, July 20th. The program starts at 9:15 am and ends at 1:15 pm. Students may not be dropped off earlier than 9:10 am. WE WILL NOT HAVE CAMP WEDNESDAY, JULY 4TH
DUE TO THE HOLIDAY. The registration deadline is Friday, June 1st. Note: WE WILL BE OFFERING AN
AFTERCARE PROGRAM!

Program Cost:
$250 for the first child, $200 for the second child, and $150 each for any other child residing in the same home, from the same family after the first two children in the family for the entire three-week session. Due to the fact that this is a LOW tuition rate, the fee remains the same even if students may miss part of the summer program.

Aftercare Program:
The after-care program runs from 1:15 pm – 3:00 pm each day (EXCEPT 7/2 and 7/20). The fee for the aftercare program is $150.00 per child, covering the three weeks except for the first and last days. This program is limited to the first 80 children who sign up, so don’t delay! Please note that there are no discounts or refunds for students who cannot attend aftercare each available day it is offered due to the exceptionally low rate for this program.

On behalf of the King’s Dream Committee and the Community Building Team at La Salle University, I would like to extend an invitation for your students to participate in our Annual MLK Oratory and Spoken Word Contest. On behalf of the King’s Dream Committee and the Community Building Team at La Salle University, I would like to extend an invitation for your students to participate in our Annual MLK Oratory and Spoken Word Contest.

High school students are invited to join the competition and elementary and middle school students are invited to submit poster projects for display before the program that goes along with the theme.
The Oratory and Spoken Word Contest will focus on the following quote from Dr. King:

“If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward.”

We have chosen this quote as a statement of hope. Few, if any of us will do great things, but each of us can create a new future, a different future by continuing to do the small things that the community of La Salle University is so well known for in “great ways.” We invite you to take this challenge seriously and to be a source of light and hope for ourselves, for our neighborhood, our city, our country and the world.

The application to enter into the MLK Oratorical and Spoken Word Contest will be due by October 26, 2017. After a review all of the submissions, student’s whose piece has made it into the finals will be invited to perform their Oratorical or Spoken Word piece on November 9th at 6:30pm at La Salle University. On the night of the event, student’s performance will be judged on structure, content, style and overall delivery in order to award a grand prize winner of the MLK Oratorical and Spoken Word Contest.

If you have any questions in regards to participating in the Oratorical and Spoken Word contest, please contact Kamhya Jackson at 215-951-1533 or milank1@lasalle.edu.

In addition, if you would like your school to participate in the poster/art project, please contact Kamhya Jackson using the above mentioned contact information.

We hope you are able to join us as we collaboratively educate, inform, and bring awareness to our community and students. On Behalf of the King’s Dream Committee, thank you in advance for your support.

Thank you,

Grant writing, individual giving, major donors, crowdfunding, corporate giving/sponsorships, special events, data entry, stewardship and communications. Which do you need? Which require specialists? There are no formulas to follow for determining the number of development staff needed relative to an organization’s fundraising goal. Those decisions are driven by budget, initial investment needed for a new major campaign, board commitment to fundraising, other roles of development staff (such as marketing), volunteer involvement. This webinar is about identifying needs, determining where to concentrate your efforts and how to find the talent to act on those choices. And once you’ve found the right people, how do you keep them to provide the continuity of a successful, coordinated fundraising function?

With numbers like $168 million in nearly 100 countries raised on 2016 #GivingTuesday, it hard not to get caught up in the hoopla and many development staff are pressured to implement it. But just as with every fundraising campaign, each organization needs to determine if the ROI on #Giving Tuesday is worth it.

This webinar will help you separate the hype from the reality so you can evaluate whether to commit to #GivingTuesday (or other Cause Awareness Day campaigns), and if so, what to allot in terms of resources. It will address common questions, such as money vs. buzz value, attracting new donors, getting recurring gifts, cannibalizing your year-end appeal, standing out from the masses and integrating it into your overall fundraising and social media strategies. Armed with this information, you can better determine if #GivingTuesday is a good fit for your nonprofit.
